Defoliate? That bush is tight!

I’ve got a little unknown auto that was stunted either from genetics  or more likely my inability to control temp and RH during veg..
She’s in flower now and there’s a lot of bud sites being blocked by leaves .. I’ve read it’s very bad to be removing foliage during flower, but would it be as bad as bud sites not receiving any light? I have tucked as much as I can but it’s so dense down the bottom. How would I go about opening it up so that the buddies can get lit up without stressing her too much?

You’ll have to wait for your pics to fully upload before posting. We can’t see them.

Defoliate as necessary to maintain good airflow within the plant’s canopy.

Buds don’t need or even use light. The leaves do that job. Bud (flower calyxes) are only 5% as efficient at photosynthesis as leaves are.

I ended up giving her a bit of a trim to get some light in and air flow

The only time your buddies need to get lit up is when you’re smokin’ 'em! :upside_down_face:
