I did notice a few of the tips on the upper nodes appearing toasty, so an adjustment of the lighting was made. Seems I have a couple of kolas that are overachievers.
Some of the leaves are turning yellow (see attached)
I have not overwatered according to numerous sources and the seed source (ILGM), no excessive nutrients (have followed manufacture’s guidance) a low CalMag dose was given about 5 days ago but the yellowing was happening before that. PH has been tested and is just fine @ 5.8.
Regarding the yellowing; it is not confined to one area (which would indicate a nutrient deficit) but rather a leaf here…a leaf there. Please see attached of plants in tent.
With it being an auto, is yellowing of leaves usual/typical? I have researched several sites and get conflicting info all over the map from “it’s fine” to “burn your house down and start again”
My setup is a VivoSun 3 x 3 tent that came as a kit with all the bells and whistles. I have 2 fans running for upper and lower ventilation. All parameters for growing are within spec (RH, temp) and plants are in 3-gallon pots using Happy Frog for soil. A larger tent is being delivered today.
Any help, guidance or suggestions as to my situation would be appreciated.
Welcome, no judgement here, just good folks that want you to succeed! Looking good, especially good for a first grow. You’ll want that ph at 6.2-6.5 in soil, so your a bit low. What kind of soil are you running?
Thanks! That is sort of what I thought but if one researches said topic, the answers are all over the place! As I posted earlier, they run from “it’s fine” to “burn your house down”
No, not AI…LOL. And I agree with you regarding the “I” part. Mainly online forums and reputable (I think) websites. That being said, the info out there is all over the place. Yes, no, maybe, new plants…
Welcome aboard.
No worries, we ALWAYS play nice. Those that dont are encouraged to straighten up. If does not happen, never see them again .
You are in the right place for every style of growing. We have them all.
Help is freely given. We will all give solid info on our styles.
We have some amazing troubleshooters. Great light guys " @dbrn32 ". Dont let the boss tag slow your questions. He will answer and guide just like us peons .
Have a blast up here and question away. Only stupid question is the 1 not asked.
My next medium will be potting soil which I will augment with worm casting, Perlite and mycorrhizal inoculants. I am fairly good at gardening, just new at the cannabis game.
Think tomatoes. I also was a gardener before cannabis. That mix is what I build with. I am organic/living soil. Top dress and water. Strong life. No PH check or actually any number chase. Pure caveman here.
COOK that build a few weeks before planting.
Nice work for a first grow, I grow autos and photos in soil that I build myself. I will say try and get that ph up around 6.5 as others have stated. Fox farms soil is notorious for ph swings also mentioned. There are many soils much better than Fox farms. But I have grown many flowers to harvest in their soils just have to be on top of your ph. If you are using salt nutes with Fox farms you will want to water to at least 10% runoff to break that salt accumulation up I do this on my water only days. Keep up the good work growmie!
Here ya go. I removed several leaves in the same shape. Although (hopefully) not hurting the plant, with their lack of chlorophyll, they are probably not helping much either. As I mentioned in the OP, a few of the kolas got a tad too close to the grow ligh (fixed last night) The offending leaf is the single one.
I would ask if you have a par meter or maybe download the photone app on your phone to get a read of your ppfd/dli this far into flower I would aim for 800 or so ppfd or 40-45 dli. It almost looks like a little light bleaching as you stated. Since your painted nails look a little excessive could also be a lil hot on the feed. Just my 2 cents, there are more folks here way better at diagnosis than me so I would take their advice over mine have a great day!
