Looks like water droplets splash on it you good @Negrita007
Thanks @Reed71 ! I’ve never been so nervous in my life as I am with growing for the first time! Sheesh.
Your welcome @Negrita007 my friend. Patients is the hardest part of growing
Great Risings Everyone!!! @anon34311147 , @Reed71 , @Dexterado , @Hashtonbutcher , @IslandGrown76 ! Coco needs your help!
I followed your advice to balance the ph in the water. I used this powdered ph down stuff that came with the kit. It was dissolved in the water and I did a soil and foliar spray. But the foliar spray created these crystals on her and now she’s burning!!! .
I read afterwards that foliar spray should be done right before the lights go out in the tent or while the lights are off.
There are no signs of bugs or pests, the crystals came only after foliar spraying with the ph down water. The blackened leaves were plucked from the lower part of the plant. I’m thinking of spraying her leaves with just water and hope to rub off some of the crystals on her leaves. I now know that foliar spray should be done RIGHT before the lights in the tent go off.
I’m learning
Yes, foliar sprays should either be done a couple hours before lights on or right at lights out to prevent burning. You can rinse her before lights go on in the morning. Saturate the leaves with just water. If you have city water leave out over night to allow it to off gas the chlorination.
@IslandGrown76 thanks so much!!! I’m glad to learn all of this before investing into quality seeds and more soil. I’ll make sure to get that done asap
@Negrita007 spraying your plant is not worth the trouble in my experience. i would try to avoid spraying anytime but there are alot of people do it. Why i don’t is sometimes some of leaves not dry by the time lights come back on and it will burn leaves up. Happy growing my friend
@Reed71 HAPPY GROWING ! It didn’t happen like that when I sprayed the neem oil mix…then again that dried up so fast…I’m glad these are wild seeds and that we’re learning as we grow, but I agree with you…I’ll skip the foliage spraying altogether, unless it’s a neem mix . Then I’ll do it 30 minutes before the lights go out. Thank you so much!!!
I see your grow log and you’re ugly ducking . Gives me hope for my Coco
It’s ok but me myself I try not to unless I have to. There’s a lot of growers that do just have to be careful with it my friend happy growing
Peace and Blessings To You All!!! @Hashtonbutcher @anon34311147 @Reed71 @Dexterado @IslandGrown76 . Here’s an update on Coco.
So, I have been doing my best to keep the water at 6.5ph, but the probe I have is not reliable. Coco is curling/twisting (And so is her big sister Ellie now) Hoping for the best for Coco. I know she’s still growing although it’s seemingly a bit stunted. She’s burned really badly and is now in her recovery stage.
Its twisting and curling because the pH is out of range. It might not seem like too big of an issue right now but once your in flower, its going to ruin the plant. I cannot express to you how important it is to get a proper pH meter. Your not going to end up with much… if you don’t.
Aslo, how hard is your fan blowing on them?
they’re Waltzing in the fans. I won’t be able to get a ph meter until next week when I get paid. This round of learning is tough. I’m not giving up on them but at least I will know what’s what when I get some ILGM seeds. But maaaannn! I want to get some kind of yield from this! Thank you @anon34311147
@anon34311147 this is what I am getting next week per your suggestion.
@anon34311147 I’m going to get this too because I’m not sure if the BlueLab Ph meter can be used in the soil.
Or!!! I can get this one because it tests both the water and the soil. @anon34311147 ! Thanks Marty! Although this first grow is tough, it’s a great opportunity for me to learn, that way my next grow will be more successful!
We watered her yesterday with Ph Down water at 6.5ph. Prior to that we did a foliar spray with water only about 30 minutes before the lights went off. Had to get the shimmer off her leaves from the first ph down application (which I foolishly did on her foliar and that’s why mostly all her leaves are burned. Did the foliar HOURS before the lights went off.) This is her today. The third photo is Coco on the LEFT and her big sister Ellie on the RIGHT.
Just so you all will know, they’re both wild seeds and are being grown in 5 gallon fabric pots with FFOF (Fox Farm Ocean Forest) top soil, a thin layer of California Super Soil Concentrate, and about 2” deep of California Super Soil. We’ve used a total of 16oz of California Super Soil growth shot on each Ellie and Coco, spanned out every 8 oz every 45 days. They had two 8oz shots each.
I’m in the same boat as you. Growing bag seeds i found. Dont get that cheap soil meter, the orange one. Get the BluLabs. Those chaep ones a garbage. Very inaccurate.
I noticed that you sprayed the leaves with pH down. We all make beginners mistakes. It happens. I dont foliar spray m8ne scince they’re indoors under the hot lights. Its like a magnifying glass on the leaves. Dont do it. Especially in flower. It will lead to mold and bud rot.
I had the same problem with twisting leaves when my pH was high. Also, too much power to the fan blowing the leaves to hard. Well, thats what everyone here said but i think it was more attributed to the pH myself. But, those are good meters, the BluLabs.
You are also going to need to put your trellis higher. Your never going to be able to remove the plants to check runoff or anything. Get it higher before it gets caught up in the branches. Once it starts flowing it stretches and gets real tall. You will be doomed at the mercy of the net.
@anon34311147 I’m so grateful for your advice! I’ll get the bluelab the one that also does not the soil testing. I’m grateful for the learning experience for these but I’m hoping for a good harvest when it’s time. I’m gonna take the bottom trellis higher and remove the second one that’s up higher. Truly appreciate you ! Thank you
Thats a good meter. Just be delicate with the probe. Make sure to use a screwdriver or something to make a smaller hole first to clear the way. I will help with as much as i can. Like i said, I’m new to cannabis growing myself. You will be where I’m at in a months time or less.
