Dark green droopy leaves

Hi guys, I’m doing my first grow. My plants are a bit over 3 weeks old. I don’t know the strains or if they are autoflowers or photoperiods the seeds were given to me by a coworker that he found in his bud. One of my plants is dark green and droopy. I had it in a gallon of water container and transplanted it into a bigger pot 2 days ago. I transplanted it because it was dark green and droopy so I thought it probably needed a bigger home. I’m growing in a 4x2x6 grow tent in coco & perlite , using fox farm trio nutes at 75% strength. Have 2 led grow lights both getting about 130w from the wall at about 12 inches from the plants. Keeping ph between 5.6-6.3 temp in tent is about 70-80 degrees and humidity 45-50%. Any help is very much appreciated. Would like to know what is wrong with her or what I can do to help her back to flourish.

Welcome to the forum. I see what you mean the temperature is good , humidity looks good , good soil, lights not great by will get you by. What’s the ph of the water you are adding? And how much and often do you water. I would push the middle one back bring the other two right up against it in a triangle pattern. So you can center and focus the lights you have. Trying to think what else. But if you just transplanted give it time to bounce back.

I’m a new guy here too. I’m my own worst enemy. In the beginning I over watered. Bad.

That would be my guess.

How often do you water?

After I at nutes I ph it to 5.7-6.1 I try to keep it around there. I water about day and a half or 2 days. Once the top soil starts getting light brown. I do let it run off about 10-15%. Would you rec pushing the lights closer together and move plants to a triangle? Lights are cheap amazon light since this is my first grow and taking up as a hobby. Wanted to test the waters first before I invest on better lights just Incase I end up not wanting to do anymore.

You want your ph between 6.0-7.0 at all times if you can, unless you’re gonna grow hydroponics, then the ideal ph is 5.5-6.0. As for the drooping of the leaves I’d say it looks like it’s from under-watering? Try giving that one a little extra water and if the leaves prop right up within an hour than it was definitely too dry. I’m only guessing this is the case because you said you are growing in cocoa and I never have myself but I assume the cocoa dries really fast so maybe water in less amounts, more frequently. Also moving the bags closer together in the triangle pattern would definitely help the plants as they will get light more evenly. Hope I could help!

Another thing to consider is maybe that seed was just not as strong as the other two and it may be sick. Don’t worry though it would be completely normal for that to happen, especially when growing mystery seeds that your friend gave to you. If you water it good and it doesn’t look any different after an hour or so, I’d say it’s probably just a sick plant and it could just come out of it, so I’d let it grow until it either dies itself or strengthens up. You never know what to expect from mystery seeds, so also watch out for hermies or males in general when you begin flowering later on.

Try letting it dry all the way out. Like 5 days. Weed plants need a good wet/dry cycle. There’s plenty of threads on the matter.

I’m watering ever 4-5 days and my girls love it. I probably could go 6 days, but I tend to over water;-)

You might want to add calcium magniezum. The coco- coir draws calcium out of the soil. Read up on it!!

A coco and perlite mix should dry out pretty quickly in a fabric pot, and you don’t really want it to get too dry. If I had to guess your plant is showing some transplant shock.

Try tightening up your ph in. I would say you want more like 5.8-6.0. When you take something like coco and load it up with perlite your media will basically want to shove water at your plants how its received. You don’t have a bunch of buffers in mix or a lot of water retention. The part about leeching calcium is true, but I don’t see your plants as having calcium issue. You would probably benefit a lot from going through @MattyBear @Not2SureYet and @imSICKkid journals. All do very well with coco.

Majority of forums and videos I’ve seen say to ph water 5.5-6.5 even with cocoa. I actually am using cal-mag aswell forgot to mention that. I had that plant in a water gallon I cut up at first. I’ll keep trying to keep her happy. Any suggestions on when I would be able to remove the big leaves that is blocking the light from the smaller leaves? I did top them already aswell. Checked them this morning and they are recovering from the topping.

The OP is in coco: 5.3 to 5.8 is nominal.

Not a good idea in coco as it becomes hydrophilic when dry. Coco is designed to provide O to the roots and water daily (caveat: when plant is large enough to warrant it) and typically light watering daily in coco or Promix. PH to same range as hydro: 5.3 to 5.8. I’m assuming you are using a digital PH meter.

If you don’t have one; pick up a digital TDS meter as well to help with your feeding regimen. You really should be feeding using both meters to target the correct PH and PPM for the plant. They should not be over about 400 ppm right now with a peak around 750: you are dosing them up over 1,000 ppm.

Thanks for the correction. I started in soil and was unaware.

I have to go with @dbrn32 here for the ph. I run 5.7 - 6.1 Out side those ranges and things start to act up for me. Auto pots are showing me how sensitive things can be. The few times I have dropped under 5.5 The plants show no water usage in a 24hr period compared to the normal 1 gallon usage.
I agree with the size of your plant. You should be able to water heavy every day with no issues. :slightly_smiling_face: It is odd to see that post from @Myfriendis410, since he likes the 6.1 range

Lol thanks guys really appreciate all the help. I am using both a digital ph meter and the drops with the vile just to compare both results and try to get as close as I can to accurate readings. Haven’t seen my plants since this morning. I’ll post a pic when I’m home to show if there are any changes between them. :crossed_fingers:

I didn’t want to step outside published ranges and 'splain my preference for 6.0 on everything.
