7 of my 10 plants last run were Male. I castrated them all with a spoon :cowboy_hat_face::v:

@AAA I tried it a few times with mixed results on seeds some where good most weren’t one time I harvested like 20 what I thought where viable seeds I pollinated like 3 coals on a fem seed plant and out of the 20 I got 2 to germinate and they where both males so I have to be doing something wrong and I’ve researched the hell out of it online and I’m still not 100% sure on doing it :pensive: so if you have a trick I really would like to know

Its pretty straight forward. Get a male you like, Isolate him, harvest pollen, then use a paint brush to apply to bud sites on chosen female. in 30 days or so you have mature seeds.

Here is one on my males after putting his “condoms” on.

You might have not waited long enough after harvesting the seeds. It is said that they need to “harden off” before germinating.

@AAA K so I put a female into flower at what point do I apply the pollin to the female and you said 30 days I didn’t harvest till the plant was done flowering I didn’t know you harvest the seeds in 30 days

Also, I put the pollen in a small paper cup for a day or so without covering to make sure it’s dry. Using the pollen just after collecting helps, but if you need to store it should be dry and dark.

Nothing I’ve read ever gave a time of when to harvest seeds so that part should help a ton

As soon as you see a hair, that will make a seed. So, you might want to wait until you have a decent amount of hairs as each hair equals a seed.

I usually do a small side branch on the female. Lets say after 30 days flowering. But, maybe your strain is done in 45. Harvest the whole plant and leave the one branch for the seeds to mature. Once you see a seed case starting to split revealing the seed, they are definitely ready, but usually even before that.

Dry the branch completely before harvesting the seeds. I believe they still mature on the branch while drying, plus there will not be any fresh plant material stuck to the seed causing mold in storage issues.

@AAA also do you spray the part that you pollinated with water to stop it from spreading to rest of plant sry if I’m drilling you with questions I just really wanna start breeding seeds :joy:

@AAA K most plants have taken 11-13 weeks of flower to harvest the AK-47 fems I’ve been growing take 12-13 weeks to finish so they would have another 7-9 weeks to harvest for plant do I harvest seeds even if the plant isn’t done yet. Sry @Mote I’m useing up your Journal with my questions :joy::wink::sweat_smile:

I saved the instructions to my phone so my next grow I’m going to hope for a male so I can get that pollin

You can let them go on the plant. They won’t go bad.

Yeah, Mote is pissed…

No need to appypolygize, I was actually enthralled following you guys discussing this particular topic.
Thank you and @AAA for taking the time to explain, been curious too how you guys do the whole pollen thing, this goes a long way to helping me understand it a little better :+1:

Yep, I was thinking reg seeds as opposed to female, I think we both were.

I’m going to look up if there is anywhere you can buy pollin

That’s an interesting idea :face_with_raised_eyebrow: never gave it a thought. Let us know if you find anything, you never know these days.

Will do and with Canada being only a 35 min drive I might go to the seed banks there and ask :joy:

Yep. I hear you on the male/female crapshoot. I guess unless you need males, that’s why most people just choose feminized.
