Canopy temperature and humidity: how do you monitor them?

What devices or meters do you use to monitor canopy temperature and humidity beyond a basic thermometer and humidity meter?

Some growers want precise control of temp/RH.

I take it the AcuRite device can be placed right on the canopy to get a precise reading. I was assuming there would be some other device but I think the AcuRite is it. A basic hygrometer will apparently give you a canopy temperature reading.

I like the humidifier dehumidifier device. There is no end to the amount of money that can be spent on this.

You could look into inkbird or other brand controllers if you want to add some easy plug and play automation to help if you are having problems

I have a Digital Hygrometer hanging on a cord in the tent that I can raise as the plant grows

If you want an exact temperature measurement for calculating VPD you can get an infrared thermometer fairly cheap. You can measure the temperature of the actual leaves. The difference in the temp in the tent at canopy height and leaf temp dictates which VPD chart you use.

Thank you for that. Which infrared thermometer are you using?

I am noting that people complain about the accuracy of various hygrometers and infrared thermometers in the reviews.

I got a cheap one at harbor freight for $10 or so. It’s a little black square with a button and screen. It’s surprisingly accurate. You can get them on Amazon for around $25 with good reviews. If you search this forum you’ll find links to the one I’m referencing. It looks like a scanner gun at the grocery store.

Thank you, yeah, I’m taking a look at the harbor freight ones, too.
