Bud rot….harvest?

One of my GSC autos is between clear and slightly milky, so I’m guessing it’s about 4-7 days out. My problem is that I’m now finding little spots of bud rot on it. I’ve already cut off a few pieces, and don’t want to lose anymore. Can I cut off the effected area and then go ahead and harvest it before it gets anymore and I lose the whole plant? Or, should I just keep cutting off any rot that pops up and wait until the trichs get fully milky? I’ll have a much smaller yield.

Any chance you can get us some pictures?

I had some rot on my gsc earlier this year. My advice is to harvest now because there will be rot that you can not see deep in the bud. You can continue cutting the effected areas and let her finish more, but I find it extremely stressful finding new spots every day. Tip: look at the sugar leaves and if you see any that are turning color then more than likely rot is deep in bud near the effected leaf. Every bigger bud is just smaller buds grown together and you should gently pull these little buds apart to see if there is rot forming near the stem. Good luck. Your harvest is not completely ruined and your product should still be quite good.

@Side3ffects @OooWee1184 it is very stressful coming out daily to trash a bud. I’ve already cut them off today, but here are a few pics that show where some is starting and where I tried to see if I could just trim off part of the bud. I’m thinking harvesting now to save what little I have left.

Cut out affected area…you can wait or harvest.

I would cut and dry to help salvage anything you can.

Thanks guys. Now I’ve got to learn how to do my first trim.:crossed_fingers:t4:

Out of morbid curiosity, are you growing indoors or outdoors, and if it’s outdoor, what state so we can see temp/humidity levels.

I have done 1.5 outdoor grows in SE Texas, have been ultra paranoid about bud rot, but luckily haven’t had that issue yet.

Outdoors here in Kentucky. I had to fight off wpm awhile back. Other than a few little scares, it’s been a decent grow. I ended up with one of the “mystery” BB purple autos, can’t wait to try that! Still trying to figure out which purple auto it is.

I found some bud rot on my purple BB…very disappointing. I lost all of this to bud rot. I meant to take pictures of the rot from the first plant but forgot.

What I have been doing is bringing my plants inside at dark time. We get really high humidity where I am in Virginia it was 94% humidity last night. And it will cause me to get bud rot. But all is well with what I been doing. My humidity in the house is really low but they go back outside at 6 am

I also have a question if a plant is close to being ready what affect would taking it and putting it in a low light window

Depends on what stage of flower it’s in. You really don’t want stop giving them light/sunlight till about 48 hours before harvest.

This is exactly what I’ve been doing with my GDP outdoors. I spotted mold on one and pinched it out. Got two mostly plastic high volume fans going 24 hours on them and was trying to figure out how to stop the mold. I was gonna aggressively defoliate but way too many plants it’s outta the question. I finally decided to try pulling the sugar leaves on opposite sides and sure enough I was able to gently pull each bud site away from the stem slightly AND separate it from the bud on the opposite side of the branch/stem. I’ve got about 10 more plants to go. They still smell terrific but look like they’re done. They look like they’ve given up. Fed 3-4 days ago with 1/2 dosage FF Tiger Bloom and 1 Tblsp bootstrap molasses as well per gallon so I don’t think they’re lacking food, just too sticky and too damp here last 3 days. I’m hoping to get them to September 24th which will be 7 weeks in flower. I grew one ILGM GDP in 2020 indoors and cloned it and that’s what’s outside now. They were supposed to finish indoors but boss said shut the tents down for visitors over Xmas holidays. I’d just dropped new strains even…… Train Wreck Cement Shoes Chocolope. All of them are tough to get finished in this wet New England fall weather.

I’m hoping this little tip/trick creates just enough of an airspace that they can stay dry enough to not mold up and I can finish them properly.
TY for this
