MOLYBDENUM, what medium?
Dim down your hgls.
Miracle-Grow is a no no and it sounds like you need to have a pH Tester you have confidence in.
This is what Santa gave me.
Ph fasho. Like what @dbrn32 said is spot on.
If you say it’s good, then I’ll have to take your word that it’s good. If it was me, I would check the readings against the calibration solutions and go through any calibration process applicable. Just to be on the safe side.
@dbrn32 I recalibrated it like 3 times. It’s either correct or flat out broken. I’ll know tomorrow when the chemical-based tester arrives.
The leaves seem to be perking up some. Still not looking great but that has me hopeful. Assuming this is the fix, what are the next steps? The fan leaves damaged the most were the top ones which are also the main ones for the 2 colas.
You have the calibration solution? I misunderstood and thought you didn’t have it sorry.
The damaged leaves aren’t going to fix themselves. But assuming you posted most damaged leaves, shouldn’t be too bad. Once you get them drinking and feeding properly just monitor your new growth. That should be pretty good indication of how plants are doing.
@dbrn32 I will keep an eye on it. I have another plant as backup that’s a bit behind this one, about 2 weeks. It’s really bushy though not sure what to do with it lol
Let her eat lol. Both plants should be good in time.
Here’s where I’m at right now:
I don’t know which gauge is the most accurate, the analog one reads pretty much the same no matter where I put it. I just got it today.
@dbrn32 Here’s the younger “bushy” plant, it’s growing right next to the other one:
Interestingly, this plant shouldn’t be bushy at all. It was always second to the other one. They were under the same light, so it was raised to the height of the other one. I expected a lot of stretch and instead it ended up really short.
@dbrn32 should I use a foliar spray after lights out or leave it for now? I have flowers kiss.
If you foliar spray, always do it at lights out
@MattyBear got you bro. You want to avoid having leaves wet during lights on if at all possible.
I believe what you’re seeing is due to light intensity. Back your light off or dim it quite a bit and you should see a little increase in node spacing.
@dbrn32 That’s what I’m saying. This plant (the short one) was started about 2 weeks after the other (the one with issues). They were under the same light, at the same time, but they were at bottom level (they were both on the floor, so one plant was higher in terms of canopy), so the light was farther from the small bushy one. A lot farther. I was using the vipar 450, that’s 700 ppfd dead center at 18", and it was 18" from the larger plant. So the shorter one was at least 24"+ from it.
@MattyBear yes, I said after lights out. I wasn’t sure, with the issues and damage and all, if a spray would be a good idea or not.
Didn’t realize you had them under vipar. They’re pretty much all blue light, and that will do the same thing.
@dbrn32 I wonder if it could veg a 3x3 or 4x4 with that light then. I was thinking about a second tent so I could start new plants when I start flowering for a perpetual grow.
Also, it’s almost lights out. Visually it hasn’t changed much in either direction. There’s a bit of yellowing along the veins of the damaged leaf. The brown does not appear to have spread much if at all.
Texture wise things are a bit different. The leaves felt almost like paper before and now they feel like leaves. So hopefully the 6 hours of rest will do it good.
I don’t see why not. As long as you don’t mind the squat plants you should be pretty good.
My goal has been bushy, squat plants. Is that a bad thing, what’s the downside or am I screwing that up too!
Not at all. It really depends on your growing style and how that fits into your space. A lot of people prefer them just as you described. There are just a few situations where a little longer mode spacing or a plant that wants to grow up a little more is preferred.
@Midwestnewbie my main concern is airflow, I can’t even see into the plant. I have to move leaves out of the way to see the main stem, so I know air isn’t really getting in there.
Lights just came back on, so checked on the plant. Seems about the same as yesterday, maybe some worsening of the already damaged leaves but it may just be the damage becoming more evident. Some of the leaves seem perkier but overall most are still drooping/wilting. The container is still very heavy, doesn’t seem like it used much water.
So, is it fixed? Is there more to do? Do I just wait? Not really sure where to go from here.
@dbrn32 Also, it seems the pH meter is correct after all. I guess I owe it an apology for doubting it. This is the distilled which it said was 5.8. I also tested the tap water that it said was 6.9~7.0 and yep, also correct.
