Thanks. Thats what I am going to do. I bought the FoxFarm FX14053+FX14054 Ocean Forest w/Happy Frog Garden Potting Soils, 12 Quart to start with. I just need to get nutrients. I looked at jacks but you have to call them and I am not wanting to call anyone, lol. What do you suggest for Nutrients? How do I test the pH? Can I buy strips or something like that?
Yepā¦I had rh spikes depending on outside conditions. Some spikes were well over 85% and while they didnāt last longā¦maybe a couple hours, I feel that was the issue with my ak47 bud rot. And that ak47 is said to be susceptible to bud rot. Dehumidifier was the only way to stop that.
Are you in Canada I am guessing? Shouldnāt have to call or email Jackās unless you are in Canada. Also just letting you know the best place to get soil will be at your local grow shopā¦ If I am correct and you got those bags on eBay FoxFarm FX14053+FX14054 Ocean Forest w/Happy Frog Garden Potting Soils, 12 Quart | eBay that price is atrocious even for both bags. You can get a 2 cubic foot bag for roughly 20 or 25 USD. 12 quarts = 0.4 cubic feet.
Can use this link to find a dealer near you. I assume it works in Canada if that is where you are.
For a small investment you can get a autopot system (get soft pots/spring pots) this will make your like extremely easy.
And if your running Jackās in the nutrient reservoir then itās even easier.
Autopots are a gravity feed water system.
I work away from home and am able to yeild quite well but your lighting and other variables like strain grown will alter your yeild.
This is before I started growing with Jackās but still a great read, click summerize at the bottom of the first post and it will help get through the thread faster without all the filler.
Feel free to ask any questions Iāve grown in soil and coco.
Relative Humidity is the ratio of the partial pressure of water vapor to the equilibrium vapor pressure of water at the same temperature. Easy isnāt it!
It is how humid the air is basically, taking in to account pressure and temperature.
Try to be careful with the curse words here on ILGM
It is important to remember that there is no 100% right or wrong way to grow. I mean some things are obvious, like a plant needs lightā¦ But what kind of light? Metal Halide? High Pressure Sodium? LED? Plants need nutrientsā¦ But what brand? Thereās Fox Farms, Jackās, Advanced Nutrientsā¦
Etc. Etc. Etc. And everyone has their own way that they do things.
Not sure what you meant by the 50-50 vs straight FFā¦ Donāt see a post from you talking about that. I personally use Fox Farm Happy Frog with roughly 20% perlite.
Iām just trying to get through the first steps and take each one as it comes. Right now it getting past the Germination and then the photos. And then getting advice on what to do next as Iāve never done this before. Sorry about the curse word.
I think you may be over thinking this just a bit. remember itās a weed and it wants to grow. I think youāll be surprised at how easy it is once you get started
Im a coc guy now. Way better than soils. And this is from a noob also. The smell of the rooms the taste and smells of the pkants the yields everything is far more greater with coco so far. Def gotta give it up for coco not having any kind of dirt smell at all. Water days i smell nutrients and air not a wet soil smell. Its great plus i love the way floraliscious plus smells when mixed on with nutes. It smells so good to me anyways. My wife hates the smell.
I moved to coco growing and donāt do any more measuring and monitoring than I did when I was growing in soil. The only thing I have to do more of in coco is watering.
I believe growing in coco would be easier for new growers for the following reasons:
Not going to have over-watering problems. Watering issues is one of the biggest challenges to new growers, using coco almost eliminates that potential problem entirely. I grow in pure coco with no perlite or anything else added for aeration and I could not over-water my plants (I tried). Coco provides more air to the roots making over-watering nearly impossible.
No question of when to start giving nutes, coco has none so you start nutes at day 1 - or even day 0 as I pre-charge my coco with nutes even before the seed is planted.
Plants grow bigger and faster in coco.
I also donāt miss the musty smell of potting soil, coco has like no smell comparatively.
The only thing thatās going to be more work in coco is that it needs watering/feeding more often as it dries out quicker than potting soil and you donāt want to let coco go dry as you would with potting soil. I water/feed my plants in coco daily once past the seedling stage, takes less than 5 minutes to do.
Iāll never go back to soil for my āproduction plantsā after trying coco (love it!), but I still use Happy Frog potting soil for my clone mothers and potential clone mothers as I donāt want fast growth from them.
Nothing wrong with using potting soil but I donāt see any benefit from it other than longer periods between watering and slower growth (not really a benefit for most LOL).
@Hellraiser im going to try coco on my next run. Probably pick up some fox farms cocoloco. I like to use my own nutrients anyway. How do you pre charge? Just soak it in your own nutrient solution?
