Time for a check in.
The ladies are doing very good. Though i now have to raise my lights again as they grew another couple of inches over night…
Morning EC = 1.4
Morning PH = 5.5
Reservoir is about 4 gallons low from last night.
Correction: the reservoir was 6 gallons low. These are some thirsty girls.
I looked at that pic I posted and realized id pulled the moldy section mostly off before I took the dang picture…ooops…sorry…hopefully I won’t have any more to take a picture of …Happy Growing
Three weeks into flower I like to do a major pruning of the plants. This time, just like with everything this grow, I’m doing something different.
I came in this morning and my large plant didn’t look right. One of the major branches had begun to break off. So, I broke out the spool of twist tie and got to tying. I think she’s going to be ok. I really wanted to get some of the weight off before the flowers start stacking up so i started clipping.
I decided that i was going to lollipop my plants and prune at the same time. I’ve never done the lollipop, so see the pics below and tell me how i did.
Afterwards, I added two gallons of water with a heavy dose of food for the ladies. I also gave them extra rhizotonic. It’s great for treating and preventing shock.
Things I’ve learned:
Giant non trained plants are not my thing. I’ve noticed the stalls are fragile. They snap very easily and the leaves just pop right off. I’m not sure what’s going on, but the plant is otherwise healthy.
LST was invented out of necessity and i will continue to FIM my ladies in the future.
If I understand it correctly, adding silica would help with cell wall structure and strength…
Although not sure how much good it would do after the fact.
But yeah, she does look a little top heavy.
How much scrap lumber ya got? You got that wood planking to build up from to make a temp scrog around that big momma if you really felt ambitious…
Well, it’s been several hours since the haircut and the ladies seem to like their new style. They are pointing up and perky like they’re happy.
It’s time for their afternoon lights out nap. I have them on a 6/2 light & pump cycle.
Well as you know, yesterday I did a major pruning on the ladies. I performed a large defoliation for their 3rd week in flower and I lollipopped them.
There is some slight wilting on the leaves, but not much and I’m positive that has to do with the heat.
Speaking of heat. Since adding the new lights, and as I expected, the heat has been giving me problems. But, I believe I’ve got it back under control. Just making some modifications to the air conditioning.
Overall, the ladies are looking good and are still very thirsty. They are drinking about 1.5 gallon each per day and somedays even more.
The Dutch bucket system is working extremely well. My EC is being maintained between .9 - 1.4.
When it drops to less than one i feed them. If it’s over 1.0 then they get fresh water.
My PH is staying very steady at 5.4-5.8.
The runoff drain is showing no more than a 0.2 difference from the reservoir. So I’m happy about that.
Are you running any fans? I use them to help dissipate heat…usually 2 fans …think I’ll get a couple box fans as well just to move air as winter is coming…imma have skunk weed for christmas…YAY…plants are looking good…your trim was extreme but I believe you will have good success as long as you dont run out of headroom…sometimes after a pruning / trim job the plants look like you killed em to the untrained eye…Happy Growing…
They look so pitiful after a pruning, and yes it was extreme, but i know they are just fine. I had to raise the lights on the left side and bend over some colas on the right side.
They grew a couple inches overnight, again.
I always give a really good feeding after the extreme grooming and they seem to recover without any issues.
The ladies are consuming about 1.5 gallons of nutrients a day. Buds are piling on and thickening up nicely.
We are about 4 weeks on two plants and 3 weeks on the other two. This makes it difficult to manage my nutrients since the all drink from the same reservoir. But they seem to be doing good.
