Hey y’all. I’m back at it. After a busy summer of working shows like I was 20 again, I finally got some time to grow a couple girls.
I am gonna be trying something new with this one. Got into the idea of being as natural as possible so I’m trying out Living Soil for the first time. Also gonna be trying out some SIP’s. Saw some of the harvests that @Mozzy was getting with those grow buckets so let’s see if I can come close to those beauties. Excited to be back at it!!! Tag along if you feel so inclined. Hoping to get a good harvest this round!!!
Growing one Gorilla Cookie Fast Flower and one Purple Lemonade from FastBuds. So far everything I’ve grown of theirs is super solid so excited to try these Fast Flowers…
Very nice MM…did you get to start the seeds in there, or transplant?
Are you going water-only the whole time too or are you concerned about the soil longevity since I assume those are both photos even with the FF feature?
I started in a red solo then transplanted after a week or so in there. Probably transplanted a little early since the roots weren’t quite where I wanted them. Using Build-A-Soil 3.0 blend which says good from seed to harvest, but I have some of their Craft Blend to mix in if needed and some Build-A-Flower Top Dress for flower. Hoping that will be enough to really start my living soil journey.
These seeds claim to be a 6-7 week flower but we all know how that goes so that why I grabbed some amendments.
You got that right. I chopped chemdawg two weeks ago. A blue dream yesterday and I’m waiting on three gorilla cookies to finish all Fast buds
I also picked up a single seed of a back in the day strain Hawaiian gold I just chopped her yesterday. Unfortunately her seed came from a trade show in Washington DC and I can’t find another.
She’s actually a hybrid of Hawaiian Gold X Kush Breath she came out totally lime green dense buds from top to bottom. I can’t wait for her to dry and cure.
I still have a whole bag full of samples sent to me by Enzo at 420 Fast buds. So they’ll be lots of fast Bud grows.
Starting to fill up a little bit. I added water to the reservoir and pumping some air into it which I understand will eventually really kick it up a notch. But the plants seem happy and healthy. I added some clover cover to the soil to help retain the moisture. Living soil is new to me so the idea of keeping it fairly moist is a foreign concept. I’ll do some more research on living soil as I know there’s plenty info on here.
In other news I dropped another seed that I wanted to try. Shoulda dropped it a week ago so I coulda timed it better but whatever. I may try something new with this one. Or just throw it in the tent and say let’s go. It’s a Brothers Grimm Duban Thai 99. I love me some Durban so I’m really curious about the hybrid. Anyone have any experience with this one??? I bought a bunch of Brothers Grimm a while back when they had a sale so hoping they’re good genetics.
Anyways… here are the plants as of Saturday. We’re about 9 days from transplant.
You’re growing more simple than most folks know how to now, don’t over think it… Your plants are healthy, just keep the aerated SIP reservoirs topped off with decent water until harvest. Any issues (if they come up) will be due to other things complicating your grow.
Awesome thank you!!! I keep going back to your journal and it really looks like with proper soil it comes down environment so I’m gonna try my hardest to just keep a happy environment for each stage and go from there.
Yeah that’s kinda what I thought but I’m very new to true living soil so just trying to make sure I don’t mess it up. I love the idea of how simple living soil can be (water only), so hopefully that is the case. From what I understand, these SIP’s should take care of the proper amount of water as long as I keep them topped off. We shall see how it goes!!!
I do have frequent inputs, you cannot sustain a healthy environment without adding sources of nutrients for healthy microbes. I blend old soil and a new bag of soil with amendments of mykos, assorted bacteria, Happy Frog organic all-purpose 4-4-4 …and let it cook for a couple weeks, keeping moist.
Around early flower, I mix Happy Frog Fruit and Flower with a bit of soil and topdress around base of plant, working in as best I can.
I will not hesitate to give a weak shot of liquid fert if I think it is warranted.
I got some Build a Soil Craft Blend and Build a Flower Top Dress to use during the grow so we shall see how that all works. But according to the website, BAS 3.0 is supposed to be good from seed to harvest, but I figure she’ll want a little something something once we start flowering.
One of my experiments this year was using half used soil, and half Lakeville blended soil. You know, local screened cornfield soil mixed with peat and compost. Now, I blended that mix with a bit of Coast of Maine for this Winter’s grow. We will see how the ladies like it and what creepy crawlies came with it.
