Back with Some SIP’s and Living Soil

@PogueMahone Hopefully that Lakeville soil treats you nice. That’s my old stomping grounds. Course that was a couple decades ago when there was a lot more farmland over there. Crazy how much it’s changed. But I digress, I’ve heard many good things about the coast of Maine soil so I hope it treats your winter grow nicely!!!

Little patches of clover…

Congrats on the new grow set to watch.
Not on as much here but that might change lol.
I haven’t used sips before but I would suggest putting a light amount of straw on top and also lightly mist the top of the soil daily just to wet its whistle and keep the microherd on top happy.
I started another round this past couple weeks using BAS 3.0 nutrient mix with fresh soil in some pots and re amended with it in several other pots that are on their 4th and 5th runs no till.

Anyway congrats and just some things to consider.
Enjoy the day

@Skydiver Thank you for the info. Living Soil is new to me so excited to learn about this!!! I’ve been keeping the soil damp but not soaked. Adding just a bit of water to the top each day. I added some clover crop to help things along and plan to mulch that down to help that top layer.
With living soil, when would you say to add things like compost and teas and such??? I assume I’ll be adding a layer of bloom compost around the start of flower and maybe once midway through flower. But as far as teas and such I’m still a little green.
Thanks for tagging along!!! Hoping to see you round the forum a bit more as well!!!

You’re welcome and welcome to the living soil adventure.
I’ll brew an aerated compost tea approximately every 2-4 weeks no set schedule for me. When I first mix the soil and fill the pots is my first application to help kickstart the biology and get the microherd built up to eat the nutrients and they poop out and the plants can take it up.
I’ll also spread some worm poo on top of the straw mulch in the beginning. Once the clover is taking up the rest of the top of the soil it’s harder to top dress but you can remove some or just finger it in as best you can.
The tea mix I use is from Boogie Brew and been using it for a long time. It’s simple stupid but contains a wide mix of goodies besides the standard worm poo and unsulphered molasses which is the minimum you need to brew a tea using a bucket dechlorinated water and air pump and air stones.
Some use a mesh bag to put the poo or boogie brew in but anymore I simply dump mix straight into the bucket. But sometimes need to strain it depending on what I’m using to water. A sprayer definitely needs strained.
Just too dressing with worm poo and spraying water on top helps with the biology but a properly brewed tea really increases the biology more so.
I’ve posted my set up and process in my journal for the tea use but as long as your brewing properly and don’t go too long brewing and use finished brew right away you almost can’t go wrong.
Smell the brew before using it should smell earthy and not rank. If it’s gone bad you’ll know it by smell and that you should toss outside on a compost pile or somewhere.

Hope this helps and enjoy the day

Helps immensely my friend. Appreciate the advice. I’m gonna check out the boogie brew. I do have a worm farm going so may add some of that in and see what’s what. But thank you so much for the advice!!! Looking forward to the grow!!!

Also I noticed you have some other vegetation in with your plant. Is that to support the microbial life???

I also have a worm bin and add a handful to the boogie brew too.
The package I use I bought from tractor supply about 6 years ago and it was a mix of different clovers and some “weed” seeds. I use the stuff that grows in salads and smoothies so bonus. It was all natural with no seed coatings or crap so make sure you read the ingredients haha

Awesome!!! Thank you again my friend!!! I appreciate all the knowledge you’ve given!!!

Here’s where we’re at as of today. We’re about 13 days from transplant and maybe 21 days from sprout. Gorilla Cookies are getting bushy as hell and the Purple Lemonade is starting to catch up. Both seem to be thriving in the Living Soil. Gonna add a bit of Craft Blend for the final couple of top watering before it’s strictly the reservoir and compost teas.
Also added a new lady to the tent. Brothers Grimm Thai Herrer 99. She just sprouted last night!!!

My three mystery Autos survived the first night of freezing temps, on the 3-season porch.

I covered the outdoor Future #1 and she came through with flying colors

Hoping it’s good. I like the parent strains so hoping it’s good stuff!!!

Glad your outdoors made it through the first of the freezing temps. My ma has one in her garden that needs a little longer so hoping hers will make it through the cold.

Here we are as of today. Gotta do some defoliating and a little bit more LST but I’ll have to wait til tomorrow. Today was a day and I just ain’t got it in me. But they seem to be flourishing. I think I had my light a little too intense and/or too close because some of my leaves were looking a little wonky. Popped the light up a few inches to see if that helps. Otherwise they’re looking full and bushy!!!

Here we are about 22 days from transplant. The two FastBuds are thriving and the Brothers Grimm seems to be kicking into gear. I think the light has been a little intense on the little one but she’ll be alright I think.
I gotta do a little more LST on these puppies and defoliate some of the leaves before they get too outta control. Been really happy with how bushy the ladies are getting. Gonna give them about another 3 weeks before I flip I think. That way the little Brothers Grimm can catch up a bit. She’ll be a small one but hoping I can still get some nice buds outta it.

Also…. Let’s Go Lynx!!! Game 5 tonight!!! We were at Game 4 and it was incredible!!!

Here are the other ladies… named McBride, Collier and Williams.

Loving the SIP’s!!! They seem to really love the aerated water so thanks big time for the tips from your journal!!! Added a little tea to the top to keep the soil happy.
