Awesome Auto Flower Buds by Bearwoman

Hi, I’m a new grower. I have just flowered out Blueberry auto. My yield was 6 loose quart jars. My question is why are my buds loose and not tightly packed?

What kind of lighting did you use? If your light isn’t intense enough it will produce less dense buds.

I dont know if that’s the only reason. I used very intense 4xQB304’s on 2 plants and they were loose. Great yield of 1.1lbs, but loose.

@Bearwoman welcome to the forum!

I think the environment can affect that, too. Humidity or temperature maybe?

Timing of the chop as well. All can affect the flower like described.

@Myfriendis410 please elaborate.

New growers often harvest early. That final two weeks can make all the difference.

That’s true, too. They do dense up the most in the last few weeks.

That may not be it completely either. My autos went for 11.5 weeks and we’re 10%amber/90%cloudy, but still not dense.

Some strains just have fluffy buds, too. For example, every bud of Bubba Kush I’ve ever had was pretty loose and fluffy. Whereas Head Cheese is almost always rocks.

Come to think of it, a lot of the Blueberry I’ve had was pretty loose and airy, too.

Yes; I had a Crystal that ran out to some ridiculous amount but was loose compared to every other plant in the grow. So strain plays a role but time and again new growers don’t have the knowledge to run em out. So an early harvest will absolutely produce loose airy buds.

Had a Gold Leaf that I topped too many times for the pot size (7 gallon) and it ran out of root mass to feed the tops. Had to harvest early; airy buds. Spider mites or thrips can stall out and degrade the quality of the flower too. Running a PK boost too soon and too high can cause plants to stall as well.

I guess where I’m going is there are too many ways to not get to the finish line to really enumerate them all.

Helpful! Thanx. This is the area of the grow I least understand. I get the trich color and cloudiness, but the perfection of the bud and the timing of the finishers/additives is abstract to me.

Without knowing more information it’s hard to pinpoint. It could be lighting, nutrition, or maybe they got too hot. Can you upload a picture of your set up and maybe the buds?

I’m using a S450 Advance Spectrum Max LED grow light panel. I live at 5,000 feet and I do not have humidity issues. My indoor meter says 44% humidity and my temperature ranges between 68 to 75. I am using Bergman’s fertilizers. The plants are on a automatic drip system and I monitor them twice daily. Thank you for your help. This is my first blogging experience.

Hi Bobbydigital. I’m using a S450 Advance Spectrum Max Led.

Welcome @Bearwoman, by the way. How many plants did you grow under that light, and how far was it from the canopy?

Thank you for your warm hospitality. I started with 2 fem Banana Kush’s and 2 Blueberry Auto Flowers and scroged at 4 weeks.

Looks like it draws 320 watts from the wall, but couldn’t find the efficiency specifications (mmol/joule).

Hi elheffe702. Thanks for responding. The humidity ranges between 44 and 54. The temperature is 68 to 75.
