Good afternoon ladies and gents, I have tried figuring this out on my own and I’m pretty sure I got it but wanna double check with you awesome people cause I have not been steered wrong yet.
In the next couple days I’m gonna be switching her over to flower. And I wanna make sure I’m going about this correctly. Here’s the canna coco feeding chart. I’m going to be moving into vegetative phase 2.
I don’t run that line of nutes, and I mix my feeds by EC, not manufacturers recommendation. Most companies will have you feed too much so they sell more. Most feed charts are on the hot side, runoff numbers will tell if salts are building up or not.
I always start with the light feed schedule. If I don’t see any problems after a few weeks, I step up to the normal feed schedule then if the plants are still looking fine, I will step up to the heavy feed schedule put if I see any tip burn I’ll back up one.
I don’t mind at all, it’s nice knowing I got some great people to turn too if need be. I’ll do just that start on the light side of it and actively progress it until she tells me no more. I am still in the self feeding system so that’s mainly why I’m not to sure. I know it’s always readily available to the plant so when I go to move on to the next step it’s a head scratch especially with this being the first go with the whole nutrient line.
It was confusing to me as well especially all the different stages. I only knew veg and flower til I started using canna’s nutrient line. Now it makes sense. Don’t hesitate to ask any questions My Brother
Once it’s time to switch out the reservoir I’m gonna be switching her over to the next phase and changing her light cycle to 12/12. Definitely a lot longer with all the topping this go around but it was definitely fun ! Reservoir gets switched out on the 13th. Might change it to the 12 or 14th and steer clear of Friday the 13th
Around ever 14-21 days I swap out the water and in the process I clean the system up and reservoir. I try to keep it as clean as possible in there. Really depends on how much she decides to drink within those days. Its gravity fed so as she dries out she’s absorbing after an hour of being low she refills herself.
Alright peeps today was cleaning day. Reservoir was completely drained and cleaned up and washed. Picked the plant up out of the self feeding base and put a new base under it to get the other one cleaned. Added a gallon of water before hooking up the base to the reservoir and flushed plain water through the lines to flush out anything sitting inside the lines. I did notice when looking where the aqua valve is I seen little springtails again but very low in numbers. Maybe 5-10 total swimming around in the water. That’s what made me do a complete swap and get it completely changed. Thinking about when I add the flowering solution to the reservoir and having the base fill up maybe adding 0.5 ml - 1 ml of 3% hydrogen peroxide to have the plant up take and kill off anything possible inside the medium ? Checked the rest of the plant nothing on the leaves or on top of the coco ( didn’t expect to beings it’s bottom fed ). I figured I’ll allow her to have a dry back today and tonight I’ll go ahead and fill up the reservoir. Possibly around 10 hour dry back) @Dman1969@Growdoc@kaptain3d@Low
Peroxide doesn’t kill them. I had a problem with them at one point with moms/seedlings. The moms were in coco and would get a 3-5 day dry. Those things are persistent. I was using azamax and bti at the time.. generally speaking they aren’t harmful but if there is nothing organic to eat they will munch on roots. I’ve had them eat tap roots on seeds and kill them off… at the time they were problematic for our entire area..
This time around it was not nearly as bad as the albino kush I was doing and had to throw the entire plant away. Not sure if you remember that. When I lifted the plant I didn’t see many they were mainly in with the aqua valve. Maybe 4 under the plant itself. What’s my best course of action you think to hinder these little shits before they infest. I will say they didn’t look like that in your pic. They were white and springing around the water. Not flying or anything like that. And nothing in the reservoir just strictly in the little compartment
