Autoflower tutorial thread

Great info @Cap_Ron. I will try out running the humidifier in my starter tent. I have been putting plastic bags over the starter cups which has worked ok in the past but I also need to address environmental issues and I seen you had a heater inside your tent. I plan to give that a shot.

Here’s my gdp autos bought from here at day 46. The one plant looks like it’s gonna yield about 2 grams😂 definitely a lot learned from this grow, they started in there forever homes, lst training on most. I think they are very small but hopefully next time they will be bigger?

@Mjm697 I’ve found that while the stunted ones don’t offer a big yield, they can sometimes have superb buds. Maybe it’s because they can focus all their energy on the few bud sites!
Yeah, the idea is definitely to learn along the way and see improvement in each grow. You’re doing fine, I’m sure you’ll enjoy your harvest very much!

@MoFo, just an fyi, I don’t have my filters hooked up when I’m running the humidifiers in my tents or closet. No need because the seedlings don’t smell, and the mist shortens the life of the filters.

@Cap_Ron thanks for calling that out. I am getting ready to setup a tent upgrade and will turn off exhaust.

Hey there Cap-Ron i am a beginner embarking on this great adventure. Have a 4x4 tent going to use 5gal bag pots a vs 2000 led full spectrum light with all the gadgets. My question is soil. Should i build my own or is there a suggestion or kind you use. Im growing GSC autos.

@Trubudz2212 I recently switched to coco, but when I grew in soil my best results were from Mother Earth Coco Peat, or Roots Organics. I didn’t do nearly as well with Fox Farm soils.

I never built my own soil, but I know I’ve seen many threads here with lots of members who share ideas and recipes. If you want to go that route, you can find all the info you need here.

I do the same with mine to start, new to autos, but I think it’s especially good idea for them too. The only difference is I use jiffy pots instead of solo cups. So, when I do put them in their pots, Ive always used 3 gal and been indoors, but I can put the whole thing in there and there is no shock or effects on the plants from the transfer.

Hey capron hey I put auto flowers in small pots. Somebody told me that you can’t transplant them. Then I read your article. So would you tell me how to do it cuz I put mine in small pots and I really don’t want to transplanting down because I don’t know I just don’t know please help Thank you

And I’m using Coco soil and I have some super soil for autos

He has been absent from this forum since dec. 2023, hopefully somebody else chimes in for ya :+1:

Also, im not sure on the whole coco soil. Coco is technically a hydro style of growing, feed every day. Sometimes multiple times a day depending on pot size. Coco needs to be kept wet while soil it is reccomended to go through wet dry cycles, i.e. let it dry out and the pot is light before drenching it for the next round.

Here is a link to his auto grow, where he transplants them. Lots of good info on his methods for auto flowers. Who is Eric Cartman's Father? At the end of this grow, you will know the answer! - #19 by Cap_Ron

Thank you

Hi welcome to the forum, you can do OK in small pots but youll be watering and feeding very often.
Transplant is OK if you’re good with your hands, plant is healthy, timing is right. Get a grow journal gowing with pics and info and help will be near.
Coco is a good soil conditioner, at least Fox Farms, Promix, Sunshine/Sungro and Gaia Green think so. And more if I cared to look but I’m convinced. Gardener Scott on tube has a good potting mix tutorial comparing peat moss to coco and their ratios. Happy gardening
