Are these Spider mites or something else?

Can anyone help identifying these little critters, I have not had to use any pesticides until now maybe?
They don’t seem to be doing any damage but they are determined to remain in residence on one of my new cycle.
Only on California dream :joy:
Should I worry about giving them a big sleep?

Look like aphids to me ? I’d be in there with a neem spray just as lights go out , I’d personally also spray the whole crop if your not into flower , more experience will be on the way mate they will put you right

Haha, I tried to drown the c#-ts last night, I was finishing up cleaning the bigger tent for them so I put the plants outside with the hose on them for a few hours to rinse the medium of veg nutes out before changing over to bloom fluids.
It’s funny how you have identified as aphids, cos we have roses in the garden (outside!), and they have been demolished by aphids :+1:

I would nuke em. Get the dr death out and go at it. Here’s a picture of one of mine infested with spider mites from way back. Easier to spot with a scope :face_with_monocle:

I also like to do a 3% peroxide distilled water spray in between and after a neem spray. Do you have ants in the soil ?

Lol is that what you call your ozone machine ? @Davyg I call mine “ the daisy cutter”

Dsusy cutter :rofl::rofl:. My ozone machine is deadly. I stuck it near the inlet of my veg tent while trying to kill those mites and burnt all my plants :sleepy: :man_facepalming::man_facepalming:. I was in Africa for a while and anything that killed the local beasties was known as dr death :rofl::rofl:

Lol , yea the old fulla whom I got my first bits of kit off warned me about it , was told not to be in the room when it’s on , run for a maximum of 10mins , remove anything metal that you don’t want to wreck , have only used it once , my grow area was an old bird outdoor Avery and I wanted to make sure there was nothing nasty waiting for me to add heat and light to hatch or spawn , thankfully haven’t had the dreaded spider mite but have had wars with other types of bug as I was shifting plants in and outside.

Spider mites are a nightmare :sleepy:. I spray regularly now with peppermint and soap. It kills them every time but you always miss a few. I’ve taken a leaf out of hellraisers book and spray constantly. I’ve nuked my tent with permethrin sprays, bleach and my ozone machine but they keep coming back. Kikigee uses predators so I’m going to try those next

I reckon you hit the nail on the head first with aphids, I have since had a close look at the bugs all over the rosebush and got a spray bottle of gentle 2-3 step spray for aphids and other small garden bugs.
I would hope to be able to return to using no insecticides…
They only got exposed because I put near the garden while maintaining the tent and fluid system…
The weather here is now cold and there are very little bugs active.

Yip that will do it , doesn’t take much to spread an insect invasive.

Yea I’ve tried it with outdoor went a bit crazy on it , ended up with a very protein rich buds , but that was before I was washing the harvest, if you install them early there brilliant and in recommended numbers

I recently had those. Was told to look up black aphids. Can see better with eyeloupe

I did feel they were some type of aphids, just The way they gathered on the newest shoots but what threw me off was that they don’t eat away the edges of the leaves.
It’s amazing how much these bugs destroy a rosebush.
Always thought it would be vice versa

What I read they suck out the stem juices and leave behind a chemical that keeps the plant from healing.

Yea mate definitely black aphids not a dout in my mind , they will attract ants and they secrete a sticky substance that induces mold spores .

Well…
Problem was resolved very easily by giving them a light spray with off the shelf supermarket pest oil for roses!
Didn’t seem to affect the plants at all and the aphids just disappeared without a trace after 2 days.
Cheers guys your help is greatly appreciated

What did u use

Sweet , keep on eye on em , I’d suspect the spray was a neem variant, should suficate the eggs but apply another spray after 3-7 days after lights off to to make sure

I went with the Mrs to do the grocery shopping and saw this on the shelf!
$10 and Have plenty left for the roses in the normal garden :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
