Hello everyone! I’m a new gardener with almost no experience. I’m getting holes eaten through some of my leaves & I believe these to be the culprits!
Please someone lend me some of your knowledge. It would be of great help, I’m going to treat them with a “Tomatoes leaf spray”, the recipe I got from one of the forums?Yep those are spider mites. U can use neem oil or diatemacious earth. I hate bugs!
I’m not sure if that’s a spider mite. I had spider mites and mine were more white and almost translucent. That from the naked eye appears to be a predator mite which actually combats spider mites. Now I could be wrong but @Donaldj @elheffe702 have some knowledge on this as well.
Those definitely look like spider mites to me. I’m not positive, since we have very few bugs around here, but watch this:
@anon95385719 has you covered on what to do.
35 seconds in, I actually said out loud, “die, f***ers.” Good luck, and welcome @J759500
In fact Predatory mites vs. Bad guys
Haha pushing play i thought ‘fight bugs with bugs… no thank u’… by the end i was eating popcorn
The one or two i saw live in person were also a bit more whitish transparent. But the google showed orangish as well. I dont know. But i kill 95% of anything crawling in my greens…
There are the clearish color and there are red spider mites, those look like spider mites to me as well
I just found some on my plants also I went and got some ladybugs a praying mant is egg and lace wings my plants are doing much better now
Thanks to all that gave some input! I started treating them with Tomato leaf spray. I don’t see anymore on that particular plant but now others are showing leafs with holes/burns?
Any help?@anon95385719 , @elheffe702 , @PurpNGold74 thanks to everyone that gave some much needed info! Just thought I would show an update of the plants that were affected. Plus a couple more pic of the garden, hope u enjoy!
Now for a couple pics of some more of the garden! I think I got most in the right order? Lol if not I will be back to edit them. Anything that anybody noticed on the plants please speak up & fill me in as I am a novice grower. Thanks! What beautiful plants. The color is outstanding. Beautiful back yard as well. Looking great!
I fight them where I live and those are for sure spider mites (mine were purple). Ongoing care is going to be needed as you will never get rid of them. Spraying your plants with Safer BtK is good, Neem oil is good, peroxide is good as are others. You can dislodge them with a vigorous washing with the garden hose followed by some kind of mild insecticide. @garrigan62 has a recipe from tobacco and red pepper that works. Dawn soap will work too.
The bottom line is you will never eliminate them; only control them. That means you will have to stay on it. All of your plants are infected BTW.
I agree with @Myfriendis410. 100% battle time that is one of the more common outdoor grow problems as far as I know. I can’t grow outdoors do to city livening and I hate you for that lol. But you will be battling whole grows
Here is my recipe
Tabacco Juice recipe
Take 3 strong ciggeretes soak them over night in water and the
hottest hot sauce you can find.
Boil it for 2 to 3 miniutes, let it cool off the strain using
ladies nylon socks and spray the plants 3 to 4 times a week.
You can add safer soap if you like to the mixture.
(make absolutly sure you use gloves/face protection while
handling and spraying)
Thank you very much @garrigan62, I will try to find some “ladies nylon socks” for straining, I think I have the rest of the recipe to start tonight!
Cheesecloth works as well @J759500
