There are two girls - closing in on two weeks from sprout? So far I have not done anything other than place the germinated seeds in moist soil and cover with domes in a basic indoor tent with a fan running and two 150 watt lights hovering just above the plants. No water, or nutes.
Should have given more info so the SMEs can provide good guidance. These are GDP photos from ilgm. Gonna put them in my greenhouse. I’m located at 31.3152° N, 85.8552° W which is very hot and humid this time of year with long days. I will have a fully equipped tent by the time they start to flower if I win the battle against the pests. I’m toying with the idea of bringing them indoors but only if I’m confident they aren’t carrying mites or other problem critters. What do you think?
Mor me, I like mine to be bigger just because pests, mice, rats, whatever else you may have can hurt a seedling beyond recovery. But if the plant is bigger it seems to fair thoe elements better.
Looks like 1 gallon nursery bags so you can just put those diectly in their forever pot.
The heat, humidity and long days won’t matter. They’ll tell you what they need and when.
Based on what they look like, I assume no need to water just yet?? They have their third nodes at this point. I’ve struggled in the seedling stage mostly due to me overwatering. They look healthy.
The seedling stage is the most difficult part of the grow IMO Growmie. I focus on temps and a humid environment for the 1st 3 weeks and use a dome, mist a few times a day. I’ll give them 2 shot glasses of water every 2-3 days. I keep the dome off for fresh air, you can skip the dome if you can keep the RH around 65-75%.
78 degrees and 75% humidity on these. I have an ACI humidifier pumping the humidity to the tent
@OGIncognito dude thanks! I have lost the last 8 tries in seedling. I can put a humidifier in the tent. I’m going to have to do that to get that humidity level.
So for clarity (and my sanity), I can start giving water now?
The last seedling pic you posted looked borderline overwatered. When and how much was the last watering.
As @Caligurl mentioned a water bottle cut in 1/2 will work, these were domed using a clear solo cup, misted the dome several times a day with very little water every few days
Thank you both. I the soil, nursery bag, in a small pintish size container that comes with a clear dome on the same day I started germination in a cabinet. I watered the soil that same day and sat them outside. After three days, the seeds had tap roots and th e solid was just moist. Most of the water had evaporated. They have been n the tent for 10 days and haven’t even been touched. I pulled one of the plants out this morning to snap that pic I posted. Best result I’ve had in several tries. They seem a little small for 10 days (maybe 11 - can’t remember for sure), but they are green and growing! Happy growmie here right now.
Keep the environment on point for seedlings and set your lighting intensity to around 300 PPFD. A fluorescent light will work for this stage and place it about 4” over the seedlings. What light are you using
The ACI 4.5 L on the humidifier. I checked on the ACI 240 watt light that comes in the kit, it’ll be about 100 watts short for 36 sq ft of grow space. It’ll work great for 2 plants in that space. You’ll loose coverage on the sides, front and back away the further you get away from the light Growmie
