Anyone using "grove bags" to cure?

The 1/4 LB bags are perfect IMO… Which reminds me I should probably order some more of those soon, I think I’m down to 3…

Harvest was Sunday, handful of loose buds were ~11% and into an itty bitty Grove Bag.

Yea, there’ itty bitty larf-y little buds, but … I’m new at this

eta: Also, fwiw, a Food Saver sealer sealed the bag just fine.

How much percentage can you put in these bags and not comprise curing? ( Ex.1lb bag holds 50% = 1/2lb) Im broke so I only purchased a few grove bags, I got the 1lb bag hoping thats how much you can cure in it or around but idk.

Grove bags recommends around 25% empty head space in their bags for the technology to work properly.

@FlatLander is correct, you fill them by volume, so a 1 lb bag may hold more or less weight depending on the density of your buds.

I think the weight estimates are pretty accurate. I was able to pack about 2g into my 1/8th bags with room to accommodate the hygrometer. Without a hygrometer I bet I could have gotten a full eighth easy.

I have a 1/4lb bag that has 2.25oz in it and a hygrometer very comfortably and plenty of room to spare. I probably could get a full 1/4lb and a hygrometer and have room left, but those buds were nice and dense little nuggets instead of the airy crap in my baby bags

If you’re getting grove bags so you don’t have to burp your jars don’t bother. You have to dry your bud perfect for that to work. If you dry your bud perfect then jars are better. Grove bags done correct your humidity. If your weed isn’t dryed perfect the bags do nothing for humidity.

You will be burping your grove bags just like jars. Unless you plan on checking every single bud one at a time to get them to 11 percent moisture content grove bags are a waist. Your still gonna need moisture control packets. My opinion and I’ve been playing with them for 2 months now.

That hasn’t been my experience at all. I overdried my buds pretty dramatically and was still able to use the grove bags without issue. Just needed some fan leaves to even out the humidity.

Also threw a bunch of buds in the bags before they were totally ready. Just had to leave the zipper open and propped for a few hours so the moisture could escape. Zipped em up and threw em in a closet. :man_shrugging:

To each their own. I ain’t got time for jar burping.

Just finished drying Sticky Icky, Animal Cookies, Lemon Frosting, and Purple Crunch…

Using the moisture meter and the grove bags makes dealing with 13oz soooo much easier.

That’s kinda the point. You should do the same for jars as well. But even dried perfectly, jars still need to be burped.

One evening, I checked my drying and came at 13%. The next morning it was <10%. I’m just trimming and Grove Bag’ing, but wonder if I need to do something to get a little more moisture in the bags for the cure?

Put them in a bag with a hygrometer and see where they’re at after 4-6 hours.

Bag them and wait to see where they stabilize. Then add something if you need to.

Do you mean “put the whole harvest in a bag with a hygrometer” or “put your trimmed buds in a bag with a hygrometer”?

This. Try this

Sorry, yes, @Newt has you, but trim and put them in the grove bag(s) and give plenty of time to see where they stabilize. You’ll likely be fine. If there a few % over or under I’d let them sit for a full day and check again before taking any other actions… Chances are you’re going to be pretty close to the pin.

What am I hoping the hygrometer reads?

I’m a bit mystified by the process, though. I dried with air moving around the room, but not directed at the plants, in a 70F 50% environment, and it was over-dried (I think) by Wednesday. I thought it would take closer to a week?

Your ideal is 58-62% on the hygrometer.

Should I be ordering some Bovedas?
