Yea I definitely agree with the online comments and advice. I see a lot of things posted that I don’t agree with. I’m no expert but some stuff I’m pretty familiar with and if not I ask and take data and make my own conclusions and adjustments. I’m also an ass cause I saw the inside of the seed shell and thought it was mold. You’re absolutely right it wasn’t mold lol! I’ve always sowed my seeds in their final soil/coco pot only because I’m lazy and they’ve always germinated. It’s only my 3rd grow. This time a little slow and maybe because it’s much colder than it usually is in my tent and not so much straight cocos fault. Not sure. I also usually drop some mycorrhizae like great white in layers in the medium and germ hole but forgot. I was high… and I don’t water at the stem either. Always want them to search. I’ve read more about growing than actually growing. I’m sure my issues relate to treating the coco/soil mix I was using like coco. I assumed coco loco meant pure coco. Nope. I was watering to run off and so on. Got some big bitches out of it tho! I’ve also dove into the pk thing and some use like you said sparingly cause of strength but I’m gonna try 2 or 3 feeding depending on conditions. Calmag I’ll definitely mix first like you said also. Still confused on how canna a+b they want you to mix nutes like I usually did with organic but then add water to dilute for proper ec/ppm values… again you da shhh and thanks for all the support. It really makes this easy for me.
Right on braaaaaa, a trick i learned is to take a gallon of plain tap water or whatever you use. Then put in 1ml of cal mag and 1ml of A+B then take EC reading. Right it down that’s your base line. Then you can calculate the increase if you wanna go to 2ml and 2ml and so on. Just put 1ml of your core nutes or what you will use every time. Takes the guess work out of it. It really helps that i used to be an applications engineer so i had to measure, mix dilute all kinds of materials so i know how to mix ratios and figure that stuff for the most part. One key tool i bought is the Blue Lab Trencheon stick. It measures EC and it works awesome. It tells you the EC and you can look on the stck and ut telks you what your ppm is for that EC. Invaluable tool can buy it on Amazon
Ohh shit!! Now I see why! I kept wondering how I was gonna get the ppm right!! Lmao! I have an apera pc-60z which I don’t know if it’s reading truncheon, Hanna or eutech. It’s got a bunch of measurements but doesn’t right away give me my answer as far as ec… I looked up the truncheon stick you speak of and it’s nice. May have to add it to the collection. Super dope info. Now I can’t wait to mix my nutes !
Hey man so how did your grow turn out with the canna nutes? Hope the feed schedule worked out. Like i said before it seems to be a dark art with coco. I still fuck up sometimes.
Hey @Fritzy the schedule worked out great. I haven’t been on in a while or grown this year up until now. Last mephisto run I got no less than 15oz per! Of course after 2 week 60/60 dry out. Everything went great. Definitely appreciate the advice and will mirror last years run with some night owl autos. That last bubbasquanch and ripleys was unreal! Again I always appreciate your knowledge and will be reaching out again soon! Much love!
Hey Dude,
So glad it worked out for you man. I am still learning as i go. Growingvweed is like golf takes years and tons of practice to master it. I figured out a few more things if your interested.
Good Growing
I use RO water now and I am able to go quit a bit higher in EC with the nutes and they love it. Absolutely explode with growth.
RO is expensive. I was thinking of going that route a few years ago but didn’t. My well water is around 100ppm so not terrible. I run 2 autopot 13g tanks on 4 ladies and height of flower 20g gone in 3 days. Can the RO keep up?
Ya not sure, you’d have to get a booster pump. Your ppm is low enough i don’t think you need it. I am going to get auto pots too. I got some friends that told me the in and outs of them and seem way easier than my dtw. I did find that running 3ml cal mag and 7 to 8ml of AB per gallon work great in veg. Might be able to push it a little higher depending on strain. Actually canna feed chart actually works pretty good. But i always round down, so if it says 8.7 i just go 8 etc. I think I’m going to get the Geo pot 5 gal fabric pot with 12 gallon res with 2 bases to start. Let me know if you got any tips or any do’s and don’ts with auto pots id love to hear them.
I had to come back to your post. Your schedule and approach has definitely helped me. Had to come back and tell you I appreciate you!!! Solid fella you are!!
Glad i could help dude. I have learned a lot and had a lot of failures just hlad i could help you avoid them. I am still learning, thats why im going to auto pots. It took a long time for me to figure out that my pots were drying out too much over nights on 12/12. Drives my EC up in root zone and messes my ph up. So i think it best to allow the plants to have the nutes when they need it to avoid my issues.
I agree. I run 24/0 (autos)in 4 autopot xl, and 2 rez tanks.
I’ve always had an issue with my well water and rising ph in the tanks. Now I let the water sit for a day then add nutes and turn back on. Doesn’t rise as much if I do that. It’s definitely some time invested to figure out issues. I’ve also noticed when I layer my coco in the pots adding recharge boosts them a lot since you can’t add to the tanks. Definitely some monsters come from AP.
Wow nice work dude!
I tried that real growers recharge stuff for first time. I had plants in soil outside, i wasn’t aware that apparently it shouldn’t be used in fox farm ocean forest soil thats only a few weeks old. It pretty much killed 3 of my plants. It basically toxified them. I guess i didn’t fully understand that recharge is to get nutes and shit to the plant when your soil is running out of gas. That guy Scotty says won’t burn your plants. Well my ass it won’t sure did to mine. I ended up just ripping them up and tossing them.
Holy shhhh! Thats crazy because my first few auto runs were in coco loco from FF which is like ~50% coco and ~50% aged soil, castings, guano blah blah blah and I recharged the crap outta them almost every watering in fabrics, and more than “recommended” dosage and they were massive. Even right now my outdoor autos in FF coco loco get a top dressing of recharge cause they don’t get as large indoors. I know FF is hot so I’ve only had to feed just before pre flower but nothing but huge healthy veg with it. Coco Autopots inside, nute water carries is down until I turn the pots on so I suppose there isn’t a lot at early veg stage in a small root zone?..
At the time it was only a 4x4 (for size reference.)
And only a spider farmer sf4000!
Those are beautiful I wish I can grow something like that!
You can 100% grow this. I promise it’s not difficult at all. Especially in a community like we’re in.
I picked up the Blue Lab Trencheon stick a few weeks ago. Its dead on!
