Any issues adding silica late in flower?

I’ve seen a number of folks who say they use silica until the x-th week of flowering. Is silica use stopped because it’s no longer needed or because it’s detrimental? I’m approaching the last 4 weeks of flower and still using because it’s cheap and easier to use than ph-up to get ph where I want it.

Thats not a good reason to use a nutrient IMO. Too much is as bad as not enough…of any nutrient. That being said, if it ain’t broke, amiright?!
So you can use it all the way as far as I know. Myself, I flush soil and feed nothing last 2 weeks. Its growers choice on this one.

I use it until I start 2 week water only. Never had any issues. I was told by a much more experienced grower it helps support bud growth and also trichome development.

I started using silica recently because it’s supposed to strengthening the stems. I put it in the water at the beginning of flower. I only used it for a few weeks.

Silica and humic ( folic if you are using synthetic nutrients) in every feeding is a no brainer , if you have been adding silica regularly, you can stop in your last 2 weeks of flower. There should still be silica in your media.

I read someone’s bro-science opinion on another forum somewhere that said using silica in flower creates overly tough buds - I kinda understand that logic but it sounds like overuse of silica creates rocks (in a bad way) as opposed to simply nice dense buds. Soil always has silica in it, you literally cannot remove it from your soil. So to say buds don’t benefit from any silica in flower is… naive, perhaps.

Anyway. I use silica periodically as I remember it, because it takes a while to become available to the plant. If I forget, fine. No harm, since as @KoolHandLuke says, it’ll be there later on even without adding. But no harm adding it, either.

Ya I just don’t go crazy with it, like 1 ML per gallon tops.

Thats how much I use, 1ML, all the way through, up to the last couple weeks.
