Would it be a overkill to run both the last few weeks of flower? If I even get that far. Counting my chicken’s before they hatch they say
Again… If you use the app or meter… You can adjust the screw to the proper intensity at the proper height.
As far as lights…
My veg light… An HLG300L bspec… Is mostly blue light… The plants stay shorter and the node spacing is also shorter.
If I vegged with my hlg 600 Rspec… The plants would be very tall… And the node spacing would be much greater.
You could use both lights to finish but I’d… First check the light with a meter… If you need the supplemental light use it.
I started led growing with burple Amazon China lights… Spent $$$ they grew reefer but mostly get gave off heat.
Getting a good light for the size space really upped my game and it’s an expense that’s more than paid for itself over and over.
Luckily I was able to sell my lights and mistakenly bought equipment to get back a few $.
Again Thank You
This light stuff just confuses the hell out me. Ppfd ppf watts I don’t get. According to that Photone I am hitting the numbers and then some but I’m told there weak I don’t get sorry. The only thing I understand is a regular house bulb light. A 100 watt is brighter then a 75 watt and so on. So is it like for my size grow tent a 2x2 let’s say I need a 175 way bulb but I only have a 150 ? But why am I hitting the numbers
It’s about photons hitting the plant… The quantum meter and app measures that.
If the app shows your in range… Then you’ve got enough light probably. Many people on here rely on the app. The results speak for themselves.
Giving the plant too much light can stress the plant and waste energy… Too to little… You know.
Try using the chart above to help setting your light for your stage.
I hear good things about HLG lights but it would be nice if they did a ppfd chart for all there lights. They charge enough for them. I can’t even find one from a 3 party for the 150 patriot I found one for the HLG 100 but I have the 4 k
Wasn’t suppose to be. I was just after harvest advice at first. Then i saw what i really had after removing all the fan leaves and 2 days dry was looking fluffy.
Why not? I think this driver has a potentiometer on top and another on bottom, either should adjust the output.
The plants will tell you if to much or to little light you just got to know what they look like comes with experience or reading a lot of forums and asking questions I have my light 32 inches above my begging plants and still have to run it at 75 %or they don’t grow they just get thicker turned it to 75 now they stretch so I can lay them back down
It’s an aglex 4000 if you were wondering and for 169$ 400 watt light it can’t be beat last grow was solid nugs all around had nice buds over a foot below canopy level
You could email hlg support… They are awesome.
? It’s exactly like the 120h48a driver And even if I did adjust I would be guessing anyway. No way to calibrate Cheapo Photone
I did they don’t have one
Right, just turn the screw to the left to dim and to the right the make it brighter. Just like you would on hlg-120h-48a. Am I missing something?
Personally, I wouldn’t worry about what your light readings are. If you think the light intensity is too high, turn it down a little. The recommended light intensity and dli levels are guidelines in ideal conditions. Conditions aren’t always ideal, and different plants don’t always behave the same.
No your not missing anything. I just get frustrated when I can’t figure things out my apologies.
I was assuming you are aware of how to remove rubber plugs on top of driver to access potentiometers. Reading back, maybe you were not?
Two black plugs top right, you can pinch and remove them. Then screwdriver will fit inside. Vo adjust is voltage, io adjust is current. Be advised they are plastic so be gentle turning until you get a feel for it.
Got it. HLG does have a ppfd for the HLG100 4 k so I was going to try and calibrate Photone to the readings they measured. I set the HLG to 12 “ and set my phone dead center under it and it measured 640 same as there test. So I guess it’s not such a cheap app anyway. Wrong again.
It’s just that after 15 hours or so with lights on for 18 total my plants leaves are starting to Drop. There not liking all the hours of light.
Would raising the height be the same as turning down the current?
I believe the fan leaves will start to drop a few hours before lights out naturally. They anticipate it. Go watch some time lapse videos on cannabis growing indoors.
In some regards but it’s not really the same. Photosynthetic photon flux density (ppfd) is the amount of radiometric light energy per m². Raising and lowering your fixture won’t change your ppfd, it will just make your light emitting surface more or less focused. If you measure directly under the fixture the readings will go up and down with the light but the inverse will happen to outer edges of your plant(s). Now if you were to get your fixture so high that the throw of light was escaping canopy or hitting sides of your grow space before it reaches canopy then there will be more energy/photon loss that would actually reduce the amount of light in your grow space, subsequently lowering the ppfd. But this is way less efficient than simply running your light at the proper height and dropping current to desired levels.
Thank you , Would reflected light cause false readings? That test I did for thee HLG 100 I turned off the 288ish looking board and like I said the reading I got at 12” was 640 dead nuts on what HLG powers map had in center. Then I put plants that I had under that light back in after raising light back up. Turned other board back on and and took readings again with Photone and adjusted both lights hight until I was reading 600 I think I’m doing it wrong.
There’s a reason behind my madness.
