So I am on about week 7 of flowering for my Sour Diesel Autoflower. I saw that some trichomes started turning white and I began to flush the plant. It’s been a week since I flushed it and there are still new buds growing and the leaves are not turning yellow. Wondering if I flushed prematurely or if it really matters? Please see the attached pics and let me know what you think.
Looks like you have some foxtailing going on. The foxtails won’t mature as fast as older calyxes on flower as they’ve appeared later in the grow. I usually just cut them off. Some people harvest and smoke the foxtails.
The foxtails will probably continue to be generated and you’ll see the white pistils on them when the pistils on older flower will brown and recede.
Are the foxtails just those long buds at the very top? Does it look ready to harvest otherwise? What is the best way to tell now? Should I just be checking the trichomes of the lower buds?
I just ignore the foxtails… You do have to look at trichomes on the original buds if you can… you can always cut a few off to find the original. They still have cannabinoids but not as much as they are usually airy. I use those for making QWET (for edibles).
Foxtails mean high stress to either heat or light or just genetics.
Probably best to make a concentrate out of this bud and grow some new ones, coconut oil. Is a good one you can easily dose yourself with or make food with.
Otherwise you can dry sift it into kief
