Accidentally ordered two lights for a 2.3x2.3, happy accident or overkill?

Hi this is my first post/first grow so I apologize if I break any rules, will try my best to avoid doing that lol. Anyways I accidentally ordered the mars hydro ts600 meaning to get the ts1000, long story short they are both on the way right now lmao. I was wondering, should I use both lights in the mars hydro 2.3x2.3? Would they fit? or would it be overkill and I should just send the 600 back for a refund?? Thanks for any replies it is much appreciated!!!

Using the ts 600 myself along with a dimmable qb board in a 2.5x2.5 equalling a totally true watts of 250w the 2x ts 600 is 200 what’s in my opinion it’s gonna be fine but depends on number of plants

I have the mars hydro 600. It was my first light on my first grow. It did really well on one plant.:v:

This is my current set up and grow they are hungry but I’ve no ppm or pH probe right now :rofl::rofl:

I was thinking of growing one maybe two at a time but I would be using the 1000 and the 600 so i’d have around 250w max (that’s going off of the advertised wattage lol)

Sweet deal I may have to use just that for a few days so I’m glad it’ll do okay until the 1000 gets here, though in your opinion is 250w to much for my size tent?

Looking super healthy man !! I’m glad to know the lights are good lol I was a little nervous early first but now I’m just excited :joy::joy: hoping both will fit though it looks like it may be a tight squeeze lol

Me… 250 watts covering 5 sq ft. Not a problem. That’s 50w per foot. As long as temps are not an issue the plants will love it.
I have 450 in my 3x3.

sounds good not sure why I didn’t use that equation tbh :joy::joy: and I’m hoping so, I’m using dr.earth as I heard it is comparable to gaia greens mix. I’m hopeful I get some decent bud with the light & nutes combo lmao

I’m running 460 watts from the wall right now in my 3x3 at 940 PPFD and able to max out at 514 watts. No such thing as to much light/power with dimmer knobs.

Plants are showing it. Ph/ppm pen stat.

Hey dude, welcome onboard - best way it to take out the guesswork.

Your space is 0.49 metres squared and you want an average PPFD of 900 PAR for your flowering beauties. This is the perfect number as it gives you max PPFD without causing the plant stress. Sure you can go over a thousand but then you need supplemental CO2.

750-900 is the agreed best range to operate in.

Sooooo run the numbers PPFD x space / light efficiency (for the Mars Hydro is about 1.9/2 efficiency)

900 x 0.49 / 2 = 220 watts required if you want to be spot on!

If you turn it all the way up to 250 watts you will create 250 x 2 / 0.49 = 1,020 average PPFD

1,020 is wasted energy and you risk stressing the plant - you won’t kill the plant, you won’t burn it, but you’ll cause it stress - and stress means lower yield.

Run your two lights at 220 watts

…and give your little ladies a bite to eat, I think they’re looking for some nitrogen - good luck!

dude holy cow!! thank you sm for the lighting info!! That definitely makes me feel way better about the setup, you just saved me from losing some yield !! Also I put some slow release food in the pot for her about a week and a half ago so hopefully that kicks in soon and gives her some food haha, gonna post some update pictures here soon

hey you’re welcome. If you put food down a week + ago then honestly it should have kicked in by now, slow release should be available within a couple of days, not weeks. They look gorgeous but they look hungry.

I zoomed in and see that they’re flowering so they’re hungry and looking for nutes - hence the bright leaf colour. They’re healthy, they’re just hungry. FastBuds are an awesome strain but they like their nutrients so don’t be afraid, get some nutes in there.

Good luck sir!
