Thats 300w in a 5x5. Not enough. Need 300 more. That is not hitting edge to edge. For that I go 900. 5x5 is a stepchild to light makers it seems. Most seem to concentrate on 4x4 footprint. 36" with that power is too high. 24 better. As long as the footprint covers. I dont think it will. Just my opinion.
I will verify! I believe it puts off 2000w and 1000w respectively, but I will make sure! I originally purchased the 2000w to replace the 1000w and then in my last grow I used both, but my tent was FULL!
Storm is correct.
Yes, Inflating numbers makes cheap lights attractive.
Cheap lights cost more in time and wasted electricity.
Kil-A-Watt meter measures electrical load.
Well, it is time to save and invest in a 1000w HPS light and ballast. You live you learn. I will run both lights until I can afford a higher quality light and another exhaust fan to run to the light! Going old school
I’m straight LED, sorry. I think @merlin44 has HPS experience. I could be wrong though. Let me see if a couple others may be able throw in some info too…
Luckily there are a LOT of resources available for HPS grow tips. I just like this forum a lot, so I ask here first!
Thanks guys (and gals)(or whatever)
I looked up those bulbs! You can get them on amazon for $61 a piece. Looks like the ballast is what gets you. The cheapest I have been able to find the Eye Hortilux Gold Standard Ballast is 239.99 and they just go up from there. Yield Lab has lights that put out about 10% less light, but you can use a new ballast with a booster to achieve 15% more light. So basically, I am learning that I can max a light out for a year, pay less for it, and get more light with that specific combination. Any thoughts?
