So I have this feed chart on how much of the different nutes to feed the plant depending on how many weeks old the plant is. I know to give less then the recommended dose. What I’m not sure of is, are those the numbers that the plant gets every time it is watered or the total for the week? If it is totals for the week, should the plant get the whole dose once a week or should it be spread out? I hope this makes sense to someone who knows.
Are you growing in soil or coco?
If coco you give the recommended amount every time it receives liquid, up to several times per day.
If you are growing in soil the answer is much harder because the soil is already providing nutrients to your plants. Different soils have different blends that effect how much nutrient is already in the soil and how aggressive you need to be feeding it. The size of the pot makes a big difference as well because the bigger the pot the longer the plant can feed before depleting the necessary nutrients in the soil. I’m not sure there is one correct answer.
I grow in soil and use 5-7 gallon pots and water every third day. I alternate between scheduled feeding and water + anything special I use. If I think the plants need extra cal-mag that might be the extra something I add to the alternate watering. I’ll also use the alternate watering for adding bacteria or mitochondria to feed the soil or molasses to feed the buds in mid to late flower.
As to how strong to make the scheduled feeding? Again that depends on how much nutrient is left in the soil. That can be determined by checking ppm of runoff water, if it approaches 1000ppm you need to feed full strength. If you want to wing it, start out at half strength and gradually increase it every week as the nutrients in the soil get consumed.
It’s best to get a PPM meter and manage your nutes according to the specific needs of cannabis via the PPM readings taken from the runoff on each watering.
Thanks for the info, going to get a meter
All nutes have charts , you’ll need to read or videos of your nutes , there is order, amount concentration etc
