Harvested some outdoor plants recently (2 weeks early, no choice). Hung mostly whole to dry, achieved 60/60 for nearly the whole time, controlled some ups and downs pretty quickly and ended up with stems snapping after 9 days.
Put all into jars, all reading 60-62% humidity almost straight away, so started just opening all jars twice a day for like 10-15 seconds each… after 10 days of that, finding smoke is still a little harsh with black ash, and in vape I get some flavor at low temp for a couple of hits but then becomes gross/harsh past that.
Plants were grown in notill soil
Buds smell nice in the jars , dry pull on a joint you can taste the flavor
Should I just keep at it and trust the process or is there something I can do to improve the situation? I figured they’d be good to go by now
Curing just takes time. Chlorophyll is the harsh component and it takes weeks to break down and go away. I don’t really like mine till it cures at least 3 months and sometimes more.
The color of the ash is not an indicator of anything. Lots of resin gets gooey and sometimes doesn’t burn completely and leaves unburned (black) stuff.
Yall need to try grove bags… i promise you wont be disappointed. I have about 1/2 lb that i stuck str8 into groves after a 7 day dry and 12 hour sweat.
I have a final plant almost done drying that I am putting in grove bags actually, in the next few days… saved them for this one to test. this plant looks like it is going to reach 10-11 day dry time too, an improvement
@Dreww after i dry, i stickem in a paper bag for 5 hours then flip the bag upside down for another 5 or so to “sweat the buds” and then str8 into grove bags. Push all the air out and seal. Come back in 24 hours, open the bag to “burp” it, push all the air back out and reseal. Then i leave it alone in a dark space and let her do her thing…
I just checked my final drying plant that will be going into grove bags, stems are not snapping at all (will be in 2-3 days), but this possibly crappy moisture meter is reading 5-6% on buds, but they are clearly nooooot dry yet. I think I should ignore this moisture meter and wait for stem snap? heh
Get ya a wood moisture meter with the long probes. Ive had better luck with that than the snap method. Stick the probes deep into the bud, you want about 15%. You can pick one up on amazon for about 20 bucks or so. What are you temps and rh where you are drying

heya, was at 60/60 and it ended up being 9 days, trimmed last night.
so if I go into grove bags straight away, and they are immediately reading 62% and are stable like that for 24hrs so far, do I bother burping or anything or just leave it sealed for a long time
