So I’m in the midst of my first grow in a 18"x13"x48" grow box n use a Mars hydro 300w n never had heat issues(let the plants get to tall issues so I’m forced to finish them with cfls…) But my point is with a larger grow box than me you can probably get a 450w led n still have no heat problems, maybe even a 600w. Your budget is quite high that you’re willing to spend on lights so you can get a better led brand than the Mars hydro, I just don’t want you to sell your grow space short on light if it can handle more. I wouldn’t be set minded 300w is the biggest light you can get in there is my point.

If you get more energy than the sun than thats to much

The Mars hydro is very quiet. My air pump n intake n out take fans are louder than it.

Thanks for that @MAXHeadRoom

Pssttt how much is that?? lmao no seriously how are we measuring energy… is there a magic lumen, wattage, par number

I really need to find a way to control heat and really want to keep at least a 400w MH for veg & 400w minimum (currently running 600w) plus a couple of cobs to pick up the slack of dropping 200w from HPS now the site i found has CRXsunny Cob’s for what i consider to be stupid cheap the bigger you go the more stupidly cheaper it gets, of course keeping 400w HPS and say using 2 x 1200w cobs would be overkill or would it? they have 400s and 800s and 1000’s all at good prices too am just trying to figure out where to put my money in the best place for the girls, don’t want to hold back on them but at the same time i don’t want to bleach everything in my tent if that makes sense

@B345T Dont buy those COBS!!! Look at the frames. They are the same frames as the cheap ebay lights. I found out they all come from the same factory somewhere in China. The run Epistar or EpiLEDs. these are cheap LEDs that have technology that is 3 years old. So it would be like buying a computer that was three years old. They paint the frames different colors and slap on a name but they are all the same. I have a 1200w that they are selling for $149. Got the exact same light off EBay for $80 NO NAME. So look at the frames this is one way to tell. Also those COBs dont look like COBs to me . They look like they took tiny LEDs and stuffed them in a square to look like a COB. The PAR values they are claiming are false. There is no way they could be that high.

So back to your question. How much is to much. With the heat problem you have running MH it will be hard to tell because you cant tell if its heat from MH or to much light intensity from LED. So what I do is let the plants tell me when enough is enough. I move my light closer and closer and see how they react. Its simple and effective. Happy Growing

@B345T Also I have a Lux meter. The Lux of the sun is 100,000. So I start with my lights out at 25,000 Lux , that is one quarter of the suns light, than if they can take that move to 50,000 Lux etc…

In this videos, sound seems ok and quite silent. Of course Countryboyjvd1971 has 12 fans so his noise is much higher.
I think that the the led light with three or four fans produce much less noise…Of course also depends on the quality of the product

I agree with that 100% if I only had one or two going it would be much quieter and like I said it only noise if in the grow room
There are a few people who use them here @Ivan2309 I’m trying to remember who lol
As far as the crxsunny lights I’ll say this they work great for the $ they are not a cree cob but cobs none the less I don’t buy anything off eBay myself since they are faceless dealers you save 20$ and if you have a issue who knows just my opinion I
I buy mine on Amazon because with prime membership they bend over backwards for me
My plants and buds speak for them selves
And I’ll leave the subject there

Any time bro!

Awesome information dude fair play

Guess i need to get me a lux meter and start looking about at lights i know what you mean about looking at the frames just not sure what you mean by

I will have to come find you when my piggy bank is full

@B345T What I mean if you are going to buy one of those China lights you might as well get them for the cheap price because they are all the same. Even that MarHydro that was pictured came from the same factory. Why pay more for the same thing. The Lux meter I bought was less than $10. I cant afford a PAR meter but it gives me some indication of light intensity

Dont get me wrong these lights will work you just need more of them. It is all I can afford for now and they are working for me. But Im only at day 16 of 1st grow. My opinion comes from researching grow lights

@Ivan2309 any time my friend
One last thing on led light whether cob reg led bulbs par is more important than lux readings
You can download a lux meter for you smart phone as well it uses your camera to messure it
Happy growing all
Hey @Ivan2309 thought I post this for you so you can get an idea what the crxsunny and roleadro lights paired up can do
Still have at least 4 weeks to go minimum all depending on tricombes color in 4 weeks I’m in 8th week of 12/12 now

I use foxfarm nutes as well

Very nice light. I think you will be very happy with your decision. Can you buy me one too. I can’t afford that one.:disappointed:

I use a Higrow 600w 12 band led in a 4.8 sqft grow tent. It’s 600w when running full spectrum, but it has separate veg and bloom. I absolutely love this light and can’t say enough good things about it.

I too started out blinded by all the pizzazz of the titans of led,but I quickly was slapped back to reality. ( for my broke a$$ anyway)
I went with 3-300watt marshydro. Using 2 in veg now. Gonna add the other for flower in a 3x3x6.5
the lights are quiet and I am happy with their power.
Only had one on her til last Sunday
You wouldn’t believe the undergrowth coming off her, compared to those who grow with hid! Not even close!

I decided for Advanced Platinum because of the quality (i hope…) but most importantly, the fans are silent. The Higrow 600w looks good, arre the fans silent on it (GrowManFitz) …refering to 1 unit.
i hope Platinum 300w led lights will solve my heat problem or at least help a bit and i expect bigger
yield too. Ayway, we’ll see

thanks
