Lights for vegging indoor grows

Hi ,
since I’m a newbie all the different lights can be quite confusing, I have a 600w hps for flower, but I want to eventually have a separate veg room and flower room, so I can have constant weed and not having to wait on your next grow, I’m definitely thinking led lights but they vary from £115 to 210 and a few in between, all from 600w to 1200w, so I’m asking what’s the difference, what’s the best and what do you use

@Majiktoker @Donaldj @yoshi @bob31 @Countryboyjvd1971

How big a space, and how many plants do you want to run in veg? I built a 4 X 6 X 6 foot grow box and it has 3 of the Laputa 1,000 watt plus 2 Meizhi 300 watt led’s in it which barely does the job. COB led’s are supposed to be more efficient and while they cost more, the output is supposed to more than offset the cost. I saw one for $118.00 on Amazon but that was U.S. Somebody posted it here. I think it was a 400/200 watt.

@daz49 I just bought a roleandro 400/ 200 watt con light after the great review of @Countryboyjvd1971 I have only been using it for a week so I’m in no position to really critique it but for the $ it seems like a great light.

Here it is on Amazon but check your sources too!

Thanks for your reply guys, @Myfriendis410 & @bob31 ,you’ve given me some good idea’s to be going along with, I was thinking size wise 4ft by 4ft by 6ft ,as I won’t need them to grow to tall and from 2 to a maximum of 6 plants

4x4 is 16 sq feet @daz49 The recommended is 30-50 watts per sq foot 480 - 800 watts in total for coverage!

4ft by 4ft square by 6 ft tall @bob31,if you get what I mean, I haven’t actually seen if they sell them that size ,or do you think I should do it shorter? Just thought I’d want it the same size as my flower one from corner to corner but it’s about 8 ft ish tall, so I didn’t think I’d need it that tall bro

We only need sq footage FYI my 3x3 tent has 1000 equivalent watts of LED lighting. 400 claimed actual watts

Thanks bro, I want to make sure I get sufficient light but also reliable lights to, and one’s obviously where the bulbs can be replaced ofcourse

@daz49 the LED lights are supposed to be easy to make and there are folks making their own with great success from what I hear. Let me find the link to the topic I’m thinking of…

check this out @daz49

At the moment I’m vegging them in my flower garden with a fluorescent bulb, till they get around 3ft and then change them to my grow room, but after this grow I’m changing their room and I have to have it all in one room and not all round the house lol, I’m sure you’ve all had it, so I want a veg room to
@Majiktoker @Myfriendis410 @bob31 @Ray4x

I don’t have a Veg room. But would like to work towards one for sure.

I definitely want to go that way

Look at rigid Styrofoam insulation, foil backed. It is pretty nice stuff to work with and you can build a couple of shared wall spaces with it for dirt cheap. Mine has magnetic closure hinged doors and ventilation and best of all I can disassemble it with a utility knife and reassemble with foil tape.

Yeah a fair bit, but always a late bird, thanks for asking my friend, I’ve still got to take the tramadol and the rest of of the tablets for now, but soon I’ll have a schedule and and hopefully won’t need them anymore

I took that med and it did nothing for me. Unfortunately only highly refined opiates cut the pain but haven’t needed any since using cannabis.

@daz If you are a DIY guy you can make a great light with COBs or even newer and better Quantum boards. I have joined a LED light building forum LEDGardener.com if you or anyone else is interested just check it out. Lots of good stuff to learn. I am currently building a Quantum Board light with 4 boards. HorticulturelLightingGroup.com has Quantum Board kits
