I think this is hype. Or misunderstanding. Or just a conflated comparison. Autoflowers don’t recover as well as photoperiods, because you can leave a photo in veg until it’s fully recovered. An auto will stop vegging on its own timeline, healthy or not.
My autos have been resilient MOFOs. However. I would not top or FIM one after the 4-5 week marker. Cuz you never know if she’s gonna decide to flower on you before she recovers from the training.
You can defol, you can fim, you can definitely LST, and probably any number of other things without issue. I only managed to stress one autoflower out bad enough to get some balls - and honestly it had such bad root rot it lost all but one root in its entire structure, so like…. I can’t be mad at my own torture causing issues.
Here’s to that are middle sized of the bunch that I topped and the second nodes have grown past where I topped it as in stretched and are the top buds now then there’s two rent plants and I thought I would throw in pictures of the ones that are for sure flower ing
Also wondering,I am feeding them now,they have been in ffof and first one broke ground about nov1.
I have jacks nutrients, these auto got me twisted in time, since I see they are flowering should I got right to what jacks recomends for bud set and flower?

The first one I topped sprouted pistils the next morning. Surely they were there already and so small I didn’t notice. I hadn’t even really looked for any! The thing could only be 18 days since it broke ground with a helmet still on. I was shocked.
So I worried about that…and that thing stretched like madd all over!
Every one I topped did.
And a couple had the second node(the one below the topping site) stretch so hard the flowers are high or higher now than the ones on the node I clipped at. That normal?
And it’s seen to retard the 2 flower spots growth at the clip sight?
These plant have been very easy to break stems trying to lst for me.
I am maybe pushing it to much because the timeline is so unknown to me, especially with the two that seem to start flowering in 20 days!!!
Weird is it looks to me like the two that did this and stretched like mofos, seem to be positioned the best to have the best bud sights…they are just a trip to me…I’m kinda of lost you can tell I’m sure.
