3 Gorilla Glue 1st time grower. Please chime in

My cotyledon leaves are turning yellow! I keep reading that is a sign of nutrient (nitrogen) deficiency. But my plant is only 2 weeks 2 days old. I also keep reading to not add nutes. I forgot to take a pic before I left the house, but I found something on the net that looks like it. Please help in finding the cause.

Your plant is fine. The cotyledons contain the food the plant consumes when it is first born. This is expected behavior.

Do you have pictures?

No, I forgot to take 1 before I left for work. I will have 1 later. There is 1 brown spot on 1 of the fan leaves that showed up today

I found on my cotyldons if they turned yellow quickly. They weren’t getting the food they need, and ate depleting their reserves. If they’re being fed correctly, I’d have cotyldons not yellow and die. Until a month old. That’s just my experience, and it is only based off 10 plants.

I’ve had the cotyledons last varying times, and the low end of that is turning yellow almost as soon as they open. May be too wet, but might just want more to eat.

@dbrn32 here is the photo. She looks worst than this morning. Color is fading also

My soil bag says after 2 weeks add all natural fertilizer. All I have right now is all purpose 20 20 20. Should I add tomorrow (next watering)?

I haven’t gone by that. I just go by the look of the plant. If she doesn’t look like she suffering after two weeks. Don’t added fertilizer, imo. You’ll end up cause nutrient burn imo. If my plant isn’t showing any signs of nutrient deficiency, no don’t want to go adding nutrients. This is my opinion is all.

You said you used an organic potting soil right? That should have at least somewhat of a nutrient charge, you probably don’t need to feed.

Do you have holes poked near bottom of that cup?

Yes decent size hole directly in bottom

You should have more, place them around sides near bottom too.

Have you PH the water you use on the seedling, how often do you water? as they need next to nothing at this stage. How much light are they getting and at what intensity?

Will do now

Water ph going in is 6.8. I checked the soil and it was at 7. I purchased some ph down to help. I water every other day, spraying the leaves while dampening the soil. Right now, the surface is dry, but knuckle deep is moist. Light is T5 florecent 24w on 24/7. Not sure the intensity, just on

Slow down on the watering, over watering is the main cause of seedling failure, i have just cracked 7 seedlings myself, i fill the container with the grow medium then drench the soil to run off, i then leave the container over night to drain then next day plant the germinated seed into the medium, that was March 1st, i have not watered them since, i put them under humidity domes and just mist the inside of the domes thats all the water they get.

Also feel the weight of the container to gauge the weight as the soil dries which is another indicator of when to water.

Okay no more water for a few days! I just was trying to print down the ph levels. I’ll hold off on all water until weight(?) Indicates. Meaning feels like no water

If you’re checking the soil with that probe, it will always read 7. The ph probe on that is useless. I use mine for moisture and that’s about it. If you want to test your soil you need to collect some water runoff and test that.

I apologize if this has already been addressed but I didn’t see it in the responses.

Yes @BobbyDigital those probes are not very good at all, a good PH pen and PPM pen will save tears.
