Hi folks,
Meet my four new girls, 2x Amnesia Lemon and 2x Laughing Buddha (Barney’s). Eighth day of flower. Does this scrog look sufficient? I’m thinking about defoliating and pruning a bit more beneath the canopy.
Hey @navy66 i think it’s looking pretty good. I would let it go for another week. You’re pretty tight on leaves at this point so let her grow a bit.
Nice job
they look beautiful just keep the tent clean looking at everyone’s tent I think I have way to much shit in mine heater humidifier dehumidifier it feels so cluttered
I’m noticing that when my flowers are in flowering stage I’m seeing a lot of gan leaves falling off is that normal this is my first grow
Hey buddy, no, losing a lot of fan leaves from the plants isn’t a normal thing. At the very end of the plant’s life, yes, you’ll see some begin to drop from the bottom of the plant going upward.
How many fan leaves are we talking? Color? How else are the plants doing? What’s the environment like?
well they are yellow normal dry the temp at day is 85° heat 42°humi night time she stays steady at 70-77° and hum is at 40-50°
The only thing I would say is: ONE plant per screen. Never put multiple plants under one net as all of your plants will finish at different times, it’s harder to access for pruning, if there is a diseased plant it will be hard to remove etc.

Thanks for the pics. imo this is a moisture thing. If your daytime temps are 85, I’d recommend you get the humidity up closer to 50ish. The nighttime numbers seem pretty good. Are you overwatering? My 3 gallon plants each take about a 1/2 to 3/4 of a gallon every 3rd day.
Ah okay! That makes total sense. It’s too late now for me, so I’ll just have to keep my fingers crossed, I suppose. I expect the left side plants to come in first, and will cut off those colas while leaving the “stumps” in the pots until the final harvest of the other side. If I have any kind of crisis, I’m probably screwed, as you’ve pointed out – so let’s hope for no crises. lol
Good tip, thank you!
You won’t be screwed, but it is a hassle.
To even the canopy up some, you could use some garden wire or something like that and bend that cola over some attaching to the pole or netting. It doesn’t have to be a 90 degree bend but it will bend over some. That will allow more even lighting for you plants that are looking good .
should I bring my light low like yours or leave it at 18"
yeah it’s trying to touch the led for some reason should I bring the light down
If you bend it over some you may be able to increase lighting. You would need some way to measure your lighting( there are apps like Photone) or look at the light manufacturers spec sheet. It should have estimated light levels at certain heights. I use a cheap par meter to set my lights.
the reason I ask bc you light is very close
I can get away with close because the light spacing is more open.
Let me try this, this is how I did it:
- Get that Photone app on your phone. It’s free. Follow the instructions about the paper over the camera, etc. It’s all on the web site.
- Make sure you learn how to use the app. Set it so that it reads the type of light (HPS, MH, LED, etc.) that you are using on the plant.
- Take a bunch of readings under the light. Directly under it, in the middle. On the edges. Find out what distance is required between where you are holding the phone (e.g, where your canopy will be) and the light board.
- How much light? Around 700 - 900 PPFD in early flower is good. You can even go to 1000 PPFD. (If you don’t know what this means, read about it.) I try to keep it at around 900. (You can use higher than 1000, but that really only works if you are supplementing with Co2 in the tent.)
- When you find the right level, based on using the Photone app, set your net there and go to work.
- On the main stem and on other branches, explore with your fingers where it is still bendable. Go slow. Use your fingertips to “warm” the stem and make it more bendy. If you accidentally break it, don’t worry. Split it/tape it if you need to and continue.
- You will clip/tie the branches onto the net in a way that spreads everything out.
- Take your time doing it. You should see how the branches normally would flow, and clip them there. If you’re not done with stretching yet, leave a little room, because the net will fill in more.
- Congrats. You are now growing in a horizontal plane. (For me, I have my net set at about four inches ABOVE the soil level in my pots, but I arranged this net a while ago.)
- Hope this helps.
If you look at the picture I shared that looks straight down on the top of the canopy, you can pick out the lime-green wire that I use to clip the plant to the next. After trying a lot of stuff, I found that this stuff works best for me: Amazon.com : Soft Plant Wire, Φ3.5mm Reusable Rubber Twist Ties Heavy Duty Garden Wire for Plants, Soft Twist Plant Tie to Support Plant Vines, Stems & Stalks and for Home Organization (65.6 feet) : Patio, Lawn & Garden
