I’m at 1100 ppfd
@Not2SureYet does a mad screen using a roll of bungee material and shower curtain clips. Once plant is ready he can remove the screen easily. It’s a neat idea.
Okay, good. I’ll stand by my “1000 PPFD” statement and say that, if I’m you, I watched out quite a bit for burning or bleaching. I just did this on my last crop, so I’m a little sensitive to it.
If it were me, I’d go to 900 to 1000.
Did you get my bit about the watering? The plant looks a little tired overall, but I would not worry about leaf loss just yet. But my sense is, maybe let it go a little longer between waterings?
For me, just fyi again, my girls are on about day 12 of flower. I give them each about 1/2 to 3/4 of a gallon each, and then skip at least two full days, often 3. I don’t get a ton of run off. I am very, very careful to try getting the WHOLE pot wet inside. Dry soil can get a little resistant to moisture, so being very deliberate is a good thing.
I will make a circular mound of soil around my cannabis stalk, about equally between the stalk and the side of the pot. Then, I water inside the circle (so it goes straight down). Then, outside the circle, making sure the water stays outside of your ring.
Anyway, try pulling back just a bit on watering and let us know how it’s going. It’s pretty hard to kill a plant by not watering it – it’ll give you lots of droopy signals first. But roots that are constantly wet are going to become problematic.
Good idea. I consider the nets expendable – they are factored into the “costs of the grow.” So I will cut them in order to free the ripe flower buds without damaging them.
If the net can survive the harvest, great. But I don’t prioritize that.
I build mine using PVC and string. The frame is adjustable in height and can be lifted off entirely. It takes a little time to free from the screen but I usually don’t need to cut anything. I can also pick up the whole plant and screen as one unit. Which is handy at times.
yeah I noticed when she droops that’s when I water her and then the next day she’s puffy and upright I also check the soil I’ll dig about 2" if she’s dry I’ll water her
also I hear everyone talking about cal meg I’ve never fed any of my girls that should I start
Good! It’s WAY easier to overwater than underwater. You’ll see a slight droop even, before serious damage is done. You can even wait til then. Sometimes, I water from the bottom up – I put a certain amount in the dish underneath it, and let the plant drink what it needs for about 30 minutes. If it needs it, I’ll pour the rest on top. Remember, get the whole root ball wet, at least every other watering.
CalMag is a worthy supplement, but only because calcium and magnesium are pretty critical, yes. but I believe it is way overused. As a rule, I don’t supplement much anymore. I pick an all-around quality fert (Gaia Green for me) and stick with it. Why? Cause balance is key, and when you give the plant too much of X, it ends up locking out another critical nutrient, so the plant ends up needing more of Y, and then needs something else. . . you start chasing the tail. Honestly? CalMag is not a wonder drug. People seem to use it like it’s an emergency medicine. lol It’s not. If you ever see evidence of a calcium or magnesium deficiency, by all means, get it/use it. Til then, I’d save your money. Also, there are other, cheaper ways to supplement cal and mag, but that’s a diff post.
Roger that
ever heard of recharge I use a little of that after I pH my neutrience
I have heard of it, but never used it. From what I just saw, it is not super nutrient-specific so I am guessing it will be fine for your plants! Have you used it before? It looks interesting. Powerful stuff if it only requires 1/2 tsp per gallon!
nope this is my first time growing anything I don’t even smoke
lol so you are growing for a friend?
just for shit and goggles my stepson smokes and hopefully he will profit of it
how long do you think I have till they start budding
It already is. Those little white flowery things, with the white “hairs” sticking out? Those are buds. Those white hairs are pistils and as the bud grows, they’ll eventually turn orange, get spindly and small, and pull in close to the bud (you’ve seen that before). So to the idea of tying stuff in place. . .if the majority of those buds can be aligned on the same horizontal plane and secured in place, that would be ideal.
On the stalks where you have multiple flowers on the same stem. . .they will each grow bigger, until you (ideally) can no longer even see the stem that connects them! That’s a cola. For those, if you need to, clip them to the net just below the bottom bud. The rest of the stem and buds should be standing straight up. Again, you’re trying to create an “even” canopy – all on the same horizontal plane.
If these are NOT autoflowers, they must be getting less than 12 hours a light per day. . .?
Thanks, my friend
yeah I have them on a 12/12 but I was expecting huge buds that fall over that’s why I got the net
haha okay They will get there. Those look like they’ve been in flower (getting 12/12) for about a week or two. Am I right? Anyway, keep track of that, if you want. . .
If you do the “clip to the net” thing, those stems with buds that are sticking up over your net? Yeah, if you are lucky and they grow huge (which they WILL!), you’ll probably want to mount another net at the top, to support the weight at the tops of the colas. (You’d set that 2nd net parallel to the first one, below it.)
For now, just get that canopy even and “fixed” as best ya can, set your light level, water maybe 2x a week, sometimes 3x, don’t get rough with those little buds, and keep an eye out for bugs and disease. fwiw, this cycle, I am personally paying more attention to VPD, for example – which is basically a reading of a proper balance between temperature and humidity. The GENERAL trend is downward as they grow: 90 at germ, 70+ as seedlings, 60 at veg, then slowly dropping through the 50s and into the 40s, if you can, at the plant finishes. But VPD is controlling both factors – temp and humidity – in proper relationship. Again, another issue. . .
