1st time growing and 1st LST

Hey everyone! It’s me again.
This plant is an auto strain and it’s been growing for about 20 days since germination. I’m still using my 100W LED, but I’ll be upgrading to a more powerful light in 5 days. Yesterday, I started experimenting with some LST, and I’m getting this vibe that maybe something’s not quite right. Any thoughts on whether I should stick with it?

I think it looks perfect. In my experience with a dialed in vpd, a decent light, nutes and genetics that lst and defoliation makes a massive difference in autos. Unless of course your autopotamus… I’m very aggressive with my lst and some defol even late into flower. Not for everyone at this stage but I push it until they act out. Stay on top of it daily. It’ll also take some time for them to bounce back afterwards. Make sure they’re fed and happy. Your 100 watt may need to be closer. Check Photone app. Adjust light as needed.

My last two almost done. Other two curing now and were bigger. LST often! Happy growing.

Thanks for getting back, bro. Your plants are looking stellar! Do you happen to do any topping on them? Also, what’s the usual timeframe for them to kick off flowering? My second major concern after dealing with root rot is encountering stunted growth, which could result in a small plant by the time it’s ready for flowering lol

Some top autos some don’t. Some get angry at others for doing it and it ain’t even their plant. To each their own on topping. I don’t because LST is less stressful to an auto and doesn’t slow much down in veg. Photos you can veg as big as you want, train, then change light cycle and bam your flowering. Autos only have a certain amount of time in veg then automatically start flower. Which is why it’s important to watch your vpd and keep them happy. Autos arent always in the timeline posted. 8–12 weeks total. Sometimes longer. 70-80 days. Ish. I’ve had autos that lost count over 120 days. Usually after 4 weeks you’ll see flowering. Pack on the pounds and make veg healthy and big then flowering it’ll produce a lot.

Also I’ll mention when going into flower start your bloom nutrients.

I missed the root rot issue. Overwatering? No dry period? Soil?

Well if she’ll suddenly start flowering early, like in a week(its 20 days old alredy) than I don’t have much time for growth lol. But anyway it seems has nothing to do with LST.

Oh, no, I haven’t experienced root rot yet. I just meant that I’m worried about getting root rot because I’m using DWC. :upside_down_face:

Sorry wasn’t paying attention to the lines and clay in the pic. It isn’t terribly small for 20 days. Also I don’t even count the first week ish where it’s “before veg”. I think if you give her some more light in dwc she’ll be great. Lower the light or turn it up. See how she does.

My bad, I should’ve mentioned the DWC setup from the get-go. Heading over to amp up her light intensity now. Appreciate the heads up. Feeling less stressed about it now. Cheers!

looking good plant! I may place the LST at the knuckle instead from your pics

I just LST my plant out yesterday, hope this help you get the perception when LST

Thanks for the advice! I actually tried it as you suggested before, but it seems like the upper leaves are shading the smaller ones below, which might be limiting their access to light. I’m not entirely sure if it’s a significant issue, but I’m considering giving your suggestion a try!

Yeah, I just made a slight adjustment to the tie, and it looks like it worked out really well! Thanks for the tip about placing the LST at the knuckle instead. Your plant is looking great, by the way!

At this point it might be lot thing depends on people prefer training methods.

Yes light penetrate is good but more leave is more power, if it was mine i kept pruning the leaf that point toward plant central like umbrella. Im on madness side when it come to train the plant

Or you can let the lower branches find out their way to light.

Key of the training is keeping the tips of each branches aka cola to be the same elevation and they get similar light intensity.

I will put the process of above clone here then. She is clone from topped mother 40 days ago now she on week2 flip. 4 week from first lst put down

Keep in mind that after 2 week flowering she may not produce more leaves but focus on bud developing. You will find the best for you after growing. Plant also need times between each train for recovering. So when comes to auto’s it may hard to tell when to stop the pruning. I used to stop cutting them when they start stretchint at pre flowering.

Happy growing there.

Well, I’m still figuring out my preferred training methods because this is my first grow lol. Initially, I was keen on topping her since it seemed easier to manage, but considering it’s my only plant, and I’m a total newbie, plus the weak lighting situation and what folks say about topping autos, I thought it might be too risky for now. If she were a photoperiod plant, I’d probably go for it without a second thought, though ! Thanks for sharing the pics of your plants. Seeing them really helps me understand LST better.

I’ve been growing autos for a couple of years now and i to every one of them. I average 10 ounces a plant in my indoor hydroponics.

Only do it once and some slight LST and you’ll be just fine.

Wow, that’s an impressive yield! How much light do you typically provide per plant?

Thanks.
I currently grow 4 plants at a time with 1200 watts total. So 300 ways per plant. I’m about to up that to 1600 watts for 400 per plant.
