New grower here and in my 7th week of my first batch. I have 2 strains growing one is auto flower and one is reg fem. question is, on the seed product page where it says the yield, the auto flower product page shows a lower yeild per 3x3 (4-6 oz) and the fem seed shows yeild is over a lb. However i have an auto growing and is early in flowering and the plant is huge and looks like itll easily be a half lb of usable bud. So my question is, do autos yield less or is it the same with reg fem seeds?
That is a great question. A lot of time it depends on the grower and the genetics. I have had autos that out produced fems and just the opposite. Take the published data with a grain of salt. I grow 4 at a time in a 4x4. If I can pull 4oz dry per plant I consider that a win. If you let them veg longer your yields are typically larger. I flip mine at the 5-6 week point depending on health.

Ok i figured it couldnt be too accurate. Thanks for sharing! I had to flip the strain i was growing with the autos, (fem chronic widow) because they are weeks younger and catching up in size. Have you grown this strain before?
My mistake is im growing 15 5 gal plants in a 5x5. I know… rookie mistake… heres a pic. Think i can get away with this as long as my temps are good? .

You have your hands full farmer. I have a zkittles going right now. Trichomes check tomorrow but she is due to be copped this weekend if all looks good.
I’d recommend getting some of those fan leaves that are in the shade and the small buds trimmed up. I know how hard it is to trim buds off but the energy will go to the remaining. Then make sure you have a fan under and over the canopy. It will help keep white mildew off the plants. At three weeks I trim my fems back a lot. With autos take a few leaves every other day maybe 5-7. You don’t want to shock them too much.

Good idea. I was thinking about some trimming at least on the chronic widows since they havent started flowering yet. But i switched to 12/12 so it should flower soon i hope. Theyre still growing and i dont think its from stretch. I know its not pictured but i have a fan above and a fan on floor to keep airflow for soil. Just really hoping my chronic widows stop growing or ill have to learn to cut some branches to keep them narrow. I thought it wouldnt hurt to do a SOG but with 5g pots… i learned my lesson. Have you ever seen someone successfully pull this off and have a good harvest?
Oh yea. You may not get huge amounts from a plant because they don’t have room to grow but your doing great. The stretch lasts about 3-weeks and should be just about done. I defoliate mine right around 21-days and 3-weeks after flip.

Ok i may be on track then. A lot for my first grow. I shouldve just stuck with my autos at first. But i love the learning experience lol. I never switched early. So with that said, switching to 12/12 cycle and feeding only bloom nutes, when do you think they should start flowering? The chronic widows are in their 5th week. Been a week since i flipped to 12/12 light schedule. Im just scared nothing would change and they keep veging amd growing tall from veg

If the cw are the autos don’t fear they will bud. Autos have their own schedule. It’s hard to tell from the photo but it looks like they have the beginnings of buds forming now.

I would be more concerned with humidity than temps with the way they are crowded. I packed my first grow in like you have here. Everything was fine until a combination of humidity, cramped conditions, and not enough air flow led to bud rot. How strong of a fan do you have below canopy? Do you get leaf agitation across the whole room at all levels? I swapped out my pole fans for a strong oscillating tower fan and harvested a few plants and it’s been smooth sailing. Just keep an eye on them for anything abnormal…which is just good practice anyway.

The CWs are not the autos. So thats the tricky thing. The Zkittles are the autos and those are the once you see that are in flower mode. Im concerned if i should start trimming the CW now from the top to bottom prevent them from getting taller than 5 feet or if trimming the top bad. I thought itll be better now then later when it stretches
Thanks for that info. I have a floor fan below canopy where its right over the soil. Another one on a shelf to go over the plants. I definitely want a healthy growth and no bud rot so i would like to see your setup. Can you post a picture? Also what is your RH throughout the grow until harvest? My RH used to be 60 last week but now its 70 and concerning. Every couple days when i water and feed i rotate the plants and i dont see any water on the leaves, they all seem dry and healthy. The only thing i see are branches growing pointing up which I suspect since i have the crammed next to eachother. Im just concerned about the RH like you said. I have 2 dehumidifiers but i dont know if the second is making a difference. Thoughts?
I thought of that. Anything to prevent that? Branches growing under are growing up and narrow so it looks fine for now. Any suggestions? I might have to sacrifice yield on the bottom.
Lollipop it seems like a mistake at first but it’s the only way to do it. If not a lot of that undergrowth becomes strange and can cause issues

If you have clonex you could always practice with your undergrowth to clone
Mainly on your medium to bigger branches coming out.(imo)

Thanks for posting these. The way mine are growing (pointing up) are like yours. How big are those pots? Also, what was your average rh until you harvested?
50-60% 70-75 degrees 7.5 gal pots

Yes but you should clear out everything underneath the top 4-5 inches of canopy. Anything past the furthest node spacing can be trimmed away.
Start at the bottom and cut any branches that are less than the width #2 pencil. After that clear off any growth on those branches up to the tightest node spacing before the canopy.
