I am currently using this light to hopefully get 2-3 plants through all stages of growth. Does anyone know if that is possible with this light? I plan on scrogging in a 4x2x5 tent
I am uncertain if this is categorized as one of those blurlpe crappy deals

@dbrn32 can probably help you out

How big is your space and how large do you want to grow? That light is only 230 watts which is enough to do one plant with some size or two smaller plants.

I pulled the light up on amazon. Take a look at the PAR values for the 3’ square in the corners. That is your answer. The PAR values range from 5 to 11. They do get better for the 2’ square 79 - 190 but not good enough. You see it just will not cover 4’. It would take 2 of them to cover 4 feet.
I guess it is kind of a hybrid blurple because of the COBs

@beardless @Myfriendis410 So even if I scrog it won’t have enough to cover the 4x2 surface area?
Whether you scrog or not, it doesn’t matter. The flower footprint of your light is maybe 18x18"
If you have followed any of the light discussions here you have certainly heard HLG quantum boards mentioned. It’s 260 v2 rspec is a very popular light. It has 2x 288 boards. Here are the PPFD readings for just one board as tested by ledgardener.
Compare these values to your light.

@beardless That really pisses me off. I tried to avoid getting the blurple lights and they tricked me with the COB LED b.s… They prey on rookies that don’t know what they’re doing. I should most likely send this back and just go all out on a new one correct?

Being a victim of a blurple purchase, I’d say yes, return it if you can.
I just assembled an HLG 260. From what everyone is saying, it’s great for my 3x3.
Check out Rapidled and HLG, Both have great options

Send it back, invest in a better light, your yields will thank you.

All it means is you are moving drom rookie to experienced grower. Dont be fooled, there isnt a grower on here that hasnt wasted thousands over the years on voodoo and b.s. fads. Ive still got 3 blurples doing seedlings as we speak. Its all part of getting experience.

you are at the right place to find out what works and what is bs. When I decided last year, around August, to grow I knew light was the major component to doing anything worthwhile. I learned what minimum number of watts per square foot was needed, footprint and PAR / PPFD readings related to the footprint and the grow space were important. Full spectrum sounded nice but I really had no clue. Quantum boards was something from high school physics, and well we won’t go there. So quantum boards or strip lights and anything to do with kelvin was just not anything I knew to look for or let alone buy. So I bought at mass marketed, relatively expensive full spectrum LED ie blurple. Here are the PPFDs for my light
and summary specs
You can see the drop off of PPFD around the edges. It does OK in my 3x3 but I am working on adding some additional light to fill out the perimeter to achieve more and higher quality PPFD throughout the entire footprint.

I had viewed some of your inquiries and did not reply quite frankly because of your screen name. I would suggest, call it political correctness, respect for users and in particular those of a specific gender, you change your screen name. I find it insulting and at best childish and inappropriate. FWIW
@beardless You’re not wrong. I’m really sorry if it was offensive, it wasn’t intended to be that way. I’ll change it right now

Good for you. I am not a prude by any means but I think in general your posts
will be received in a better light with more responses. Keep on asking and if I can help or add something, I will reply

@beardless I understand completely. It was inconsiderate of me and that’s not my style
. I appreciate the honesty
@Hellraiser @beardless @Not2SureYet @dbrn32 I just wanted to run this by you guys, after looking at all the options online, I was wondering if I should just buy another superior light to add to my tent for flowering. Or should I return this light and buy one that can handle the dimensions of my tent for all stages of growth? I’m finding it difficult to get a light that covers all of my tent for all stages. I’m not experienced in DIY light installation but I’m not afraid to try if that is more cost effective
Definitely send that light back if you can. Here is the power of 2 HLG 260xl rspec and trust me when I say this…monster plants. I could do it with even blurple lights if I used enough. But the power bill would kill me. Thus HLG gets my 2
’s up.

@MrPeat damn that’s awesome! You used two of those 260xl? How big of a surface area?
I have a 4x4x80” tent. My last grow cycle was insane.
@MrPeat okay so I found the hlg 260 DIY kit that comes with 2 quantum boards for $330. That’s the one right?
