Why are these plants so different?

All 3 are same seeds (acapulco gold AF), same soil (foxfarm ocean harvest and strawberry fields), same drip irrigation, same sun. WTF? they are so totally different

Genetics in cannabis gives a variety of versions even from the same parents. Just like my brother and I look different even though we have the same parents.
Add to that seeds are produced in huge lots and come from multiple plants then the variations can be even greater. So a pack of seeds came from a farm like this…

Breeders work to stabilize the effects of the plant. So even though the plants may look different the final effects will be what you expect from the strain you are growing.

Do you know if there is more variation within an autoflower strain compared to a photoperiod strain.
Compare for example 100 Acapulco gold AF plants Vs Acapulco gold photoperiod plants. I have no idea

I would think there would be as additional genes are introduced (Ruderalis).

Just from what I see here in the forum and what I have seen in my tent I have to say Autos have a wider variation in looks than photos.
I think its amplified in the autos since their life cycle is locked in by strict timing. The photos can be grown out and look more similar as they get bigger.

Autoflowers. That ruderalis gene kinda throws a wrench in the gears sometimes.

Even if it was a pure strain, which I highly doubt these days, recessive and dominant allele’s will exist. In a wild stand of cannabis, or any plant for that matter, we have many genetic traits passed on from mom and dad, and their moms and dads. To complicate matters even further, a plant in an open pollenated scenario may have multiple fathers. 1 female pollenated by dozens of males, each with their own genetic background.
Here is an example of hiw this works, there are many charts that explain this graphically.
