White widow autoflower newbie

Hi Guys have 4 healthy white widow autoflowlers growing outside (Australia) they are approx 10 weeks old and starting to show small flowers/buds ,my question is -how long does the flowering stage last? In the info about them it says flowering 9-12 weeks. Is that at what time they flower or the total time of the flowering stage? Thanks for any help. Totally new to growing !

Are you sure they are Autoflowers, do you know what the initials/letters on the package were. I have grown 9 white widow autos so far, and never had one go past 95 days seed to harvest. You may actually have photo period white widow…

Judging by the looks of them, you probably have about 9 weeks to go (give or take a week or so)…

Hi mate, thanks for reply, yeh they are definitely auto flowers (well that’s what I ordered!) I think I still have the packaging at home, I will check it this afternoon. Did you get a good amount of bud from them?

Averaged just under 2 oz a plant. But I grow in a 3x3 tent, so they can only get so big with the space limits I have (4 plants at a time in there, which also limits each plant)…

I asked about the auto part because 12 weeks is an awful long time for them veg, all of mine started flower about week 4 or 5…

I just checked my dates, they actually 10 weeks old my mistake. But yeh started flowering about a week so at around 9 weeks. So you think I have a good amount of time left of the flowering stage yeh?

If they just flipped then you would start the “countdown “ from first formed flowers. Usually 2 weeks from first pistils. The flowering times are just an estimate. They usually go a bit longer.
And I think it was @HornHead that had the autos go 3 months before they switched so 9 weeks isn’t all that bad.:grin:
Welcome to the forum @Paynus. And happy growing. :+1::v:

Cheers guys, I’m worried as I am going away in 2 weeks for work and will be away for almost 4 weeks! Was hoping i would be able to harvest before I go away. If I went away and they were ready while I was away could I lose the buds? Sorry if stupid question!

When you get home from trip is right about when it should be done. May have a week or so more

I agree with HornHead. You should be fine to be away and reap the rewards of your grow shortly after you return. They won’t even look like the same girls when you return, will be awesome.

I’m growing outside in Australia as well but in pots. Planted seed oct 6. Runt is in full flowering mode and other 2 are bigger plants but both in different stages of flowering. Fem cheese. Nth Qld climate which this time of year is bl#*:#dy hot. Have some other seed northern lights reg and fem ak47 and need advice on growing. Whether nth lights need our winter i.e. cooler. Please any help advice would be greatly appreciated. Your plants look awesome.

Beautiful plants and welcome to the forum @Paynus! There’s a growing number of Ozzies on here and I have some family down under as well. Glad to have you and thanks for sharing :v::bear:

Thanks guys! Really enjoying seeing them thrive! Can’t wait for harvest time! Ahh @morrow227 this is my first grow so I can’t give much advise ,I’m also growing in pots.
I have been dosing them seasol powerfeed during vegative stage and now they are flowering I am using liquid potash (you can get both at Bunnings) hope this helps

Hi @Paynus, Im a newbie too but I ve gotta a couple grows under my belt and I’m doing a WW too and a pair of ww/california snow hybrids as well as a Gorilla Glue#4. You can check my grow page too.
Each strain has a flower time. The breeder would normally tell you when you bought them. If not you can look it up. Just google the strain. Some strains flower quickly 7-9 weeks from when they start to show pistil formation and some strains can go 10-12 weeks. Some champagne strains go longer in some cases, up to 4 months! When you return from your trip they should be real fat. (I hope someone is taking care of the maintenance on them while your away?) Check her trichs for amber and you should flush when you start to see them turn amber. Another good way to tell when to flush is when the hairs on the buds start to turn orange it usually means she has about 21 days till harvest. So, at 14 days out you’d want to flush. This allows the plant to finish on its own and gives a smooth smoke after the cure. It’s a very important step. Lots of info on here on how.
If you look at the trichs with a loop tho that will be a better way of knowing when to chop. 50/50 is what most growers strive for. The later you go the heavier the thc content will be and the couch lock effect that strain may have will be magnified.
Your plants look great, don’t touch em yet, the best is yet to come buddy.
Cheers from NYC!

Tried to send photos but stuffed it up.and thanks paynus, using powerfeed and seasol plus the potash also kicked in some fresh chicken poo and mulched well.

I really think it has something to do with our climate in Australia (why they take so long to Flower) I’m growing Gold leaf auto 11 week old about 5 times the size of your plants (not bragging) and nowhere near the amount of pistols on mine yet. I’m thinking they need to be planted later in the season to be able to finish quickly.

Could be. It’s very hot at the moment. I’ve just started another 6. 4 reg northern lights and 2 fem ak47. So hopefully by the time they are ready to plant up to big pots, the fem cheese will be drying out. Then I will ask for some help on making oil for pain relief. This is my first ever with this and never used so could be very interesting.

Thanks @abouttime yeh the wife will look after them. When you talk about flushing is that also with outside grown plants? I thought it was only for hydro? Sorry if stupid question totally new to this!
