HLG 200 Rspec
or
AC Infinity IONBOARD S33
3x3 flower tent but only flowering 1-2 plants at a time.
The S33 is a 240 watt light that will serve you better. The 200 Rspec has newer generation diodes, but they are only ~10% more efficient, so the math says go for the S33. I would only run 1 plant at a time. You’ll get more out of one plant under a 240 watt light than you can get from 2 plants under the same light at that wattage.
I would try to get ac infinity to provide the ppf of this fixture, then check final prices on both to your door. See what umol per dollar looks like and determine if cost savings with ac infinity are enough to give up services typically received from hlg.
I run ac infinity controllers and exhausts but a lifetime fan of hlg. I own 4
Thanks, Grow Bros! @ChittyChittyBangin @dbrn32 @MidwestGuy .AC Infinity from what I have heard has great service as well. They are coming out with the Iongrid which looks promising. It’s just not developed yet. S33 is the way I’m going to go. I’m only am going to grow one photo at a time and my wife’s indica auto can suffer in the vege tent. That HGL is a killer light no doubt but if I go HGL it’s once this state legalized and I go crazy. Weed for the masses! This is the s33 ppf.
ACInfinity is shipping their newest IonFrame lights. The model for the 3x3 is 300 watts and uses the Samsung 301 h EVO LEDs. I have one on they way, can’t wait to try it out.
If you haven’t visited ACInfinity web site recently you may have missed it. They are listed under commercial grow lights.
Dang it @CMichGrower ! Now I need to make a decision… Killen me smalls.
Just checked and saw it says preorder for June shipping but I just got email saying the light had been shipped and should arrive in a couple days.
I plugged in the total numbers which all light companies put out and compared against wattage numbers to get usable numbers.
Another thing to consider, is during some tests if you get access to then the total wattage available on a unit you might buy. The higher wattage in lab tests likely won’t apply to you as it seems to vary within a few watts from fixture to fixture.in a lab test that has higher wattage than the purchase fixture it drops efficiency but adds to coverage during these lab tests. This isn’t a conspiracy, most lights can be adjust on power levels directly on the reputable drivers, and they are hand built. And the dimmers if there is one, will range between the set power levels.
Light Fixture | Usable PPF (µmol) | Photon Efficiency (µmol/w) | Cost | Cost Efficiency ($/µmol) | Power Draw (watts) | Benchmark Harvest (grams) | Coverage (Sq. Feet) | Diodes | Warranty |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
IONBOARD S33 | 480 | 2.00 | $269 | $0.56 | 240 | 360 | 7.4 | LM301B | 2 Year Warranty |
HLG 200 RSPEC | 428 | 2.18 | $279 | $0.65 | 196 | 321 | 6.6 | LM301H | Not Listed |
Normally HLG provides warranty info on a light per light basis but the listing doesn’t say.
That said I feel like both are under powered for a 3x3, but the s33 is the better option in terms of coverage.
Check out my light thread
Ac infinity is a decent company, but their customer service is sloppy. Took me 3 weeks to buy a replacement controller for their unit that failed 4 months into service. They sent wrong controller and then I was later told controller i needed was discontinued. When all was said and done I received my money back and a hefty discount code to buy a replacement fan since my unit was no longer serviceable. But it took way too many calls and emails, and i was without fan for nearly 6 weeks.
Also, the ppfd chart is not the ppf of the fixture. This is same approach companies like mars hydro and Viparspectra use to make their lights seem more competitive.
I’m sure this light will do a good job for you too, I was just sharing how I would approach.
Thank you! I was skeptical with ac infinity because I haven’t seen any reviews on customer service on lights. My experience with mars hydro has been hit and miss. Depends on the rep I get really. Most of my problems have been with their duct fans which I got for free when they were trying to bride me. They admitted to me that they are experimental! Lol, mine was clanking and loud AF. I wrote them and they sent me another apologizing. But… the one I got is still loud. I had diodes go out on mars and they send me a new fixture, no question. AC infinity 6” carbon filter cut me due to bad build, and they sent me another after sending bloody pictures. All this still within in “warranty.”
Now HLG I messaged saying that my light wasn’t reading up to what they documented they offered to send me out another light if I mailed mine back. I was 6 months past warranty at this point, and I only emailed asking what I can do.
That is similar to my experiences as well. There’s countless posts here where in the event of component failure or something hlg is sending replacement next day air and usually ships within one business day, regardless of warranty status on fixture. Yes I would rather not have any issues, but we’re talking about electronics lol. I’ll take up and running within 2-3 days at no cost every day. My experience with ac infinity is 2-3 days for email response, and then I was on my third customer service rep before I had one that understood the product line and my needs as a customer. Ultimately they got me to a reasonable solution, so I don’t bag on them. But it’s not the same level of service most experience with hlg.
Absolutely agree. HLG takes the cake vs almost any other brand I’ve used, lighting or other when customer services comes into play.
I will get there, two more to go.
Four tent warmers excess, I just learned.
Okay so in that case a refurbished HLG 300L Rspec would be best. ???
@Low @dbrn32 @ChittyChittyBangin HLG should pay y’all and put you on the roadshows. Refurbished HLG 300L Rspecit is. Done and done!
You wont be disappointed… 35 days into flower on this GDP and shes stacking buds like bob the builder!
I like the hlg 350r. Seems to turn out good plants. I have had some issues with rust spot leaves since I started using it, but don’t know it it’s the light, or me.
I have 2 of these fixtures and their great
