Outdoor auto flower gelato
Started lst day 20
It’s day 36 and I feel Ike she’s very short, she’s got a lot of colas forming but I’m not sure if they will stretch higher or will I just have a small plant?
Pre flowers started showing about Last week.
Please let me know what you think of her and when I should stop lst so she can stretch more ? Fed her once so far fox farm veg and a little bloom
Hi @Mento2413 !
LST is great. I use it basically till I can’t any longer. Like I mean I bonsai the ever loving hell outta my babies. I’m no master grower, and only got through my first grow and harvest with the help of amazing people here. Lots of scary stuff in the beginning
But yeah, my last/first grow my stems were twerking up a storm. A buddy of mine jokingly shopped Sir Mix a Lot into a picture
Moral of the story is tend to your babies as they grow and mature. It’ll get to a point where LST will be hella more difficult, at least for me anyways.
Then there’s also cropping as well
Also I’m totally not familiar with outdoor grows, as I use a tent.
I imagine that a combination of light and environment, obviously along with autos plays a role in their height. Mine weren’t “tall” either but produced AMAZING smoke (ilgm GDP autos). Just need to give them lots of TLC
If your plant just started flower, it still has a few weeks of stretch left. She should get a bit taller. Also, you probably want to start feeding more, but I don’t know anything about your soil…
Using fox farm soil mixed with some fox farm conditioner. So for the few weeks of stretching keep tying her down until she stop stretching ?
I only lst until they start clustering up then they become to stiff and fragile besides I only lst to make the main cola the same height as the side colas so I can evenly spread the light during flower( I also notice it encourages side colas to be evenly big as main cola)
These girls are nearly 5 weeks to and your growth pattern is almost identical to my bottom right dogstar dawg , slow growers but they’re both still in veg and will keep putting on leaf mass until they feel mature enough to flower. My 2 Dutch passions are also procrastinating ( top corners)
Tying down depends on how much room u have to play with. U wanna stop lst at least 2 or so weeks into flower otherwise I’ll have all kinds of buds growing under all the top foliage. I’d say do any last u want as soon as u see all the bud sites filled in then lollipop and defol her til the end. @Nicky is an auto guy so he knows autos back and forth for the most part listen to him or @Not2SureYet and I’ll pull thru good.
Thanks for the advice ! How do I know exactly when flowering starts? I’m starting to see a lot of bud sites with white hairs but never understood when day 1 flowering really starts?
When they stop growing upwards and start flowering instead
I do lst into week three of flower
My experience has shown that they basically double in height during the “flower stretch” when they start stacking.
For day 36 with an outdoor grow your plant looks fine. Don’t forget the hours of sunlight are dwindling. I grow outdoors also and right now I’m lucky to get 6 full hours of sun, but my plants are between 56 and 70 days old and way past veg.
Outdoor autos do better in larger pots. I’m growing an AK in a 10 gal container for the first time…it is by far the biggest auto I’ve grown so far. I usually grow in 3 or 5 gal containers.
Yeah getting about 8 right now where I’m at on a sunny day… you think mine will grow more in heigh and crest some nice buds? Colas kinda just look short to me
I’m no expert by any stretch of rhe imagination but just past where you are in your stage. I lst’d until flower + 1 week then I let it stretch from there on out also, the small size of the plant is nothing to fret over… as people on here that have a lot more experience say . The best education is doing your first grow and learning from it
Good luck!
The buds will definitely thicken as the branches stretch.
This is my first year with autos to. But even though the plants are auto they still need max sunlight during veg to promote more growth.
The latest I will plant next year will be late July and hope for harvest around early October.
I do have a greenhouse that helps as night time temps drop
Hi guys!
We have some new articles, specifically about autoflowers!
Please take a look at this article to read more about feeding and training autoflowers.
Hey bud…you seem pretty sure. It’s that a good rule of thumb? Can low stress train until they stop growing tall??? If so, I’ve been stopping waaaay too soon. I run good genetics too. NO, Ethos, Meph…and my yields suck. And I have a XS2500…301b diodes. In 4x2. Dang. I get good top cola I’m so STUPID
