This is my second grow, first totally indoors.
My auto seedlings are up about 1.5” with second leaves starting. Have the in FF happy frog.
Is it work giving them 1/4 nutes or do I just risk burning them? Gut tells me to hold off several weeks.
This soil has enough nutrients to get you through the first 30 days. Then it is advised to start checking your run off ppm when watering. When this number starts to drop below 1000 ppm, then it is time to start feeding but only 50% recommended. Remember to always pH your water going in and check it coming out. Maintain 6.5.
IMO… this chart should start the first week or so of flowering. With autos its hard to really know where youre at on this chart due to not really knowing if your plant is going to start flowering at 2 weeks old or 6 weeks old. Once you determine that you are in flower then its easier to jump on their recommended schedule. This is what ive found works for me anyway.
What nutrient line will you be using Growmie, as @PhatPat mentioned you should be good for 4-6 weeks using water with a PH of 6.5
Thanks so much all, I kind of figured as much, wait at least 30 and check run off.
Funny thing is my very first grow I used FF Ocean forest all the way but you know what, the four plants turned out great! Bought a fancy meter that tests just about everything after calibrating and had to flush each 5 gal pot about 6 times, a couple weeks before I thought they were ready to cut, just to get below 1000. Turned out the smoothest weed I ever tried after a month or two curing
Thanks again
Thats one thing i dont like about fox farms soil, the flushing. But its all just part of the process for growing weed. At least they made it a whole lot easier by creating sledgehammer to assist.
I started to notice deficiencies between week 3 and 4 using happy frog on my current grow. But im growing in 2 gal. bags so im sure thats why i didn’t make it to 30 days before i had to feed.
After my last (1st) grow with autos, I emptied the 5 gal fabric pots to see how much the root structure filled in the pot. I noticed even the finest roots were still several inches, from outside and bottom, leaving a lot of space. Was thinking of going to 3 gal this time for ease of space and handling as well as getting readings where the roots are instead of flushing/watering in-touched soil. I used the 5 gal agin this time because it’s what I had 9but I did only fill 2/3’s
Maybe next time after I check.
The soil should contain nutes for a couple of weeks worth of watering. If u feel it may be time depending on the nite line id say f it and give it a shot. Most it will do is give u tip burns if not overdone and then u will know it’s still too early. A small feed might not hurt but if u do o would not keep it going on all feeds if do a water day a feed day ect til she is ready to accept feed daily or every other day.
Great advice!
Can I be so Brave as to solicit some lighting advice from the Pros’s.
Have a 5x 5 tent with a 44 x 44 ion frame from AC Infinity (730W with lm301 evo diodes).
I have the light at 30% about 2’ away with some cheapo led light bars about 6” away to prevent stretching – seems to be working, girls are 2” tall with two sets of full leaves each and still standing.
Any magic here, or just increase gently and remove supplemental lighting as the approach the veg. stage?
I don’t have a light meter but if it would help – whats a good brand?
Remember to keep it dry at least 2" from the stalk. Dont want her to dampen off or develop pythium. Looks good and healthy though.
Didn’t know that. I’ll wet perimeter thoroughly. Makes sense, forces the roots outwards and towards the moisture as well as preventing what you mentioned.
Learning here and much appreciated.
Nice done. I’d leave the side lighting on as they grow they require more light to make sure they can convert thing the right ways. And yes next water try and stay 3 inches away from stem and water a circle around the plant. This way the plant has to move roots to seek for water which in tern builds a stronger system below to support more stuff up top. Otherwise she looks great @MeEasy I believe has side light bars and runs them with great success.
