Personally, I don’t trust those probe meters at all. I have one and have never seen the reading change even when I intentionally altered my medium.
-Check the pH of your feed solution before it goes in your medium with a digital meter (should also check the pH of your run-off to find out how you did from feed to feed but we’ll worry about that later). You can find a decent one for $20 on Amazon.
-You also need a PPM meter so you know the strength of your feeds.
Charlie Carp might have what you need, but it also might not be ideal for growing cannabis. I’m curious to see your PPMs. That plant looks like you should be right about 80%-100% strength feedings with PPMs around 600.
Lol sure has @raustin been so busy just finding a few minutes now to get on and catch up
How have you been
Buy a digital ph meter @revhead those probe meters are not accurate
And yes led lights will cause burns since they consentrate light straight down as a rule so if your close you can burn them it’s best to foliar spray early just before lights on maybe a half hour or so
Thanks for all your help guys. I have used some epsom salts and watered it in to fix the sulphur deficiency. Unsure how long it will take for the plant to go green again.
It appears it is in the process of flowering.
I plan on using Sulphate of Potash. What are your thoughts for this as a flowering nute?
Do I have too many plants in the tent? It is 700mm X 700mm with a 400W LED light
I plan to remove the two biggest plants (Red poison and ILGM WWA both in 5G fabric pots) and place them outside (it is mid spring here in OZ) to make room for 2 x 3G pots (FastBuds Gorilla Glue Auto and Girl Scout Cookies)
I plan on keeping the other small pots in for as long as I can (they are standard feminized seeds) before also putting them outside, although if I get a bit impatient, I might bring some of them back in once they have grown a bit and drop the light schedule to 12/12 to make them flower.
I read in this forum that nutes should only be applied once the cotyledons yellow and fall off. Is this true?
Reason why I ask is that I have some fem plants growing (not auto) that are over a month old and still have them and they are green. Reading the Bergmans nute guide (using their nutes which I have but have not been using them), it says to feed even from seedling stage.
@revhead If those plants mature in a tent that size it will be a jungle and not in a good way!
As far as feeding: The cotyledons are meant to feed the plant at it’s youngest stage before nutrients are added. However, they don’t always fall off so that’s not the end-all, be-all guide.
If you are using a soil that has no nutrients in it like a pro-mix, then you would want to start your feeding at about 25% when your plant has about 3 sets of leaves (not counting the cotyledons). Looks to me like all your plants qualify for that.
If you have a soil WITH nutrients like some Fox Farms, you can hold off with nutrients sometimes until veg is done. Personally I like ProMix where there is little in it to start. (30 growers = 30 techniques, I always say)
Yes I see the Berman guide has a “seedling” schedule, and where it says week 1-2…I wouldn’t be applying anything to my girls that early but always get a second opinion. Other than the week “1-2” question, I would already be using my cannabis feeding schedule. I don’t know about Charlie Carp or Richgro but try sticking to the regimen suggested for cannabis until you get the feel.
Get a digital pen style to check run off and water/nutrients going in @revhead sorry just saw the tag
And I agree with @EclecticJack he made Some good points
I also use promix which is for argument sake a neutral soil meaning you can use it start to finish
I’m not familiar with the nutrients your using
I personally don’t start feeding for at least 4 weeks from seed and normally a little longer
The damage leaves looks like light burn to me as well
If you use les and get them to close it will burn the leaves for intensity not heat
I have a cherry pie going now that I allowed to grow into the cob lights I have in veg tent that looks very similar
Do you know the ppm of your run off ?
I don’t unfortunately. I have just picked up a digital ph pen.
How exactly do I test the run off? I presume I just water the plant (using standard tap water?) and collect the run off in another container then test its ph?
@raustin Being an expert, what are your thoughts on the potash that I plan on using for the bloom phase? Someone mentioned it was a “crapload” of K lol
i will tel you now that just a dab will do with the ph up/down…
go slow and find a sweet spot per gallon or i do 5 gl at a time…i also use an aerator and agitate my water while it looses some chlorine… it helps add oxy to root zone as well
sometimes little things make a big differance…
small baby steps when correcting problems…kinda like driving a race car…keep your hands at ten and two do not over correct that causes crashes…lol dirt track life!
possibly,give it a chance,it is worth a go…
set it to the side and carry on if you worried…learn from it.
remember that bucket of water was just that…if you try doing that with nutes it will foam up…lol just water…i also keep in with plants so the temp is right as well…do not want to shock them either…
Would the pro-mix soil you use be the equivalent in growing in coco/perlite since both have no nutrients?
From my understanding, the cannabis will continue to grow in the pro-mix without any nutes, it just may not yield as well as one that has had nutes, however is this the same with coco/perlite? Can you put a pot of coco/perlite, drop a seed in and leave it outside and let nature do its thing?
