This is my first and i dont want to Mess it up so id VERY much appreciate any and all tips and helpful comments
yall are awesome thanks so much for everyones help duriing this… as i am new to THIS app and This process! Yall make it a breeze for me ![]()
I like to do a good wet trim a 48 hours before I harvest. It much easier to trim the plant when it’s in the ground.
Wait, seriously?! Thats actually genious but also ive never heard it done rhat way! I gotta give it a try
And how do you go about Washing? I mean after its out of the ground of course… or do you wash at all?
I do plan to wash mine forsure … hmm, so maybe a wet trim (48 hours before chopping down) , then Chop + Wash + FINALLY up to hang and dry in a Dark room W/ a fan blowing at all times?
SSSOOO much easier! I did it with my second plant harvested and wont do it any other way.
If youre talking about flushing, which im assuming you are, you want to flush them before chop to wash out all of the salts in the buds so you dont get that firecracker bud or have to cure it a lot longer to try to get it out. I like to get my ppm down to around 300-500 before chop.
I like to base when to harvest off of genetics. For my first grow i did a 100% sativa and a 100% indica. I let my indicas grow a little longer to get a more sedative effect so i harvest them later when the trichromes got more amber looking. If you dont have a way to look at the trichromes i would definitely invest a few bucks and get one. Well worth it. Some cheapos on amazon will do the trick. Just dont go too cheap. Id say $15-$30 will get you a jewlers loupe that will work for a while.
For my sativas i like to wait until all my trichromes are cloudy with no clear and little amber trichromes.
When ive decided they’re ready i do a wet trim on the plant(once again so much easier) and then clip each cola off the plant and attatch it to my drying hanger and start trimming away. Let this dry anywhere from 5 days to 2 weeks. Depending on how wet your bud is. It should be slightly crunchy on the outside but still springy and squishy on the inside.
Also the stems wont bend but crack. Thats a big sign too.
Lastly trim down the buds off the branch into an airtight jar(mason jar) and keep out of direct light or heat. Burp once a day for a week. Then once a week from then on out.
Anymore questions feel free to tag and ask away! Here to help. Hope i did.
I like to harvest on the dry cycle.Do a wet trim remove all big fan leafs and do a final trim 8 to 10 days later. I also like to hang limbs and not the whole plant.
Good luck ![]()
I grow indoors and try and keep my tents sterile. If/when I have any mold or bud rot I’ll trim it out and dispose then use a 1 to 3 diluted H2O2(3%) to distilled water wash.
Make a bucket with your mixed wash and another with straight distilled water. First dip in the mixed bucket then out and drip mostly dry now dip in your distilled water then out and drip dry and hang. Make sure your have circulation fans and are using exhaust to suck out the humid air for a week. Check daily.
What’s your drying environmental conditions Growmie, if you struggling getting the RH in the 55-60% range I would say leave as much growth as possible to help slow the dry, if not trim away ![]()
Tha kyou! I was thinking limbs too is better way to dry. And when you say you like to do this Dry not wet… does that mean you dont Wash yours? Just trim it up while its still in the dirt, and then cut branches to hang? I just had a small issue w Caterpillars… i caught it before it got worse thankfully but there is still poops left behind im not a fan of… which would be the only reason I would do a wash before I hang, but after I trim, but trim while its in dirt HAHA
thanks so much for the Helpful words of advice and wisdom!
Also it is outside all day and noght but windy in mornings and at evening until night comes. Thinking tho at night to place em on my back porch so it doesnt get so cold…? And frosty and wet in the night or leave em be?
I dont believe the washing the person is referring to has to do with flushing, two different processes. Why not wet trim prior to chop and hang ?
An hour or two after lights on…
Start your trim on the day you’re supposed to water. No I don’t do a bud wash with a inside grow , but in your case with poop would be a good choice.
I realized that after a while. And as far as the wet trimming im just saying that i like to trim the fan leaves on the plant. Then wet trim the rest.
So it is still growing some small green hairs… does that mean anything or its okay to wet trim, chop her down to do a wash cycle then hang to dry in a dark but well ventilated spot?
