What nutes do you use?

I’m going to do my first seed to harvest grow this year and I have been wondering what nutrients my fellow outdoor growers use. In visitng my local hydro store, they suggested Advanced Nutrients - Grow Bloom Micro. In listening to the Growcast Podcast, I have heard about King Crab and Great White, Nourish L and Photo +, The Foop, and so many other brands and products. What should I also consider? Cal Mag? Silica? What are y’all’s thoughts?

The Grow Plan:

  • 10 gallon fabric pots
  • Fox Farms Happy Frog soil
  • R/O Water
  • Seeds will be started inside and transferred outside when ready

Pretty close to what I use and I use Jacks. Many here use it with great success and it’s easy to use and inexpensive compared to other brands. No calmag needed.

I think silica is a good idea…some use it and some don’t.

Good luck!

I’ve been seeing a lot of mention about Jack’s. I will have to look into it. Thanks!

I’m using Grow Dots this run. I add microbials, calmag, silica, and something sweet to feed the microbes.

I decided to give a light touch of bloom booster to my girl that’s in flower.

I’m using ffhf base for the subcool supersoil stuff. I followed their layer method and just watering till harvest. Did that with my first grow but she was definitely showing signs of being hungry. I’m still using the subcool mix but I’m adding too it during flower. Mostly down to earth dry amendments in a aerated tea. And 1 top soil feeding of fish bone meal. The tea has molasses, worm castings, kelp meal, alfalfa meal, sea bird guano. Let it brew for a couple days. So far so good no nute problems and the plants are happy, healthy and green.

I am staying with Jack’s. I know he works hard for his ladies. And, easy.

Jack is straight up PIMP! And the ladies  him!!
Throw in some FishSh!t and ReCharge every week or so and you can’t go wrong!
Sprinkle in a little MKP in flowering and done!

Exactly my method bro. Getting ready to hit the ladies with the MKP when I flip on Sunday. I do recharge once a week and fish shit every feeding.
Do you do the 2-2-2(jacks)-1.2(mpk) when you flip to flower for two weeks?
I think @Nicky does
2 - 2.8 - 2 (jacks)- 1.2(mpk) for two weeks then straight Jacks at 3.8-2.6-1.4 the rest of the way.
Curious what method you do?

I’ve been doing the 2-2-2- and 1.2 MKP at the flip to flower but I ran it for the first 4 weeks of my clone grow with good results so that’s the plan for this run too.
I also add Mammoth P with my 'crobes during flower too. The 'crobes in Mammoth P are selected for their emphasis on freeing phosphorous from the soil for the plant. Phosphorous binds more tightly than other nutes to soil and of course during flowering the plant consumes a lot of phosphorous. Those particular bugs specialize in freeing it up and moving it to the plant.
I’ve been debating on adding molasses to the mix. I’ve heard good things.

How often do you use mammoth p? Do you use it through the entire flower stage?

Yeah, I ran it with my microbe bath feeding. Last grow I cut off 2 weeks before the chop, but I’m thinking I’m just gonna go a week this round. Jacks is a pretty lite feed overall and with the microbe colonies in the soil a week should be sufficient to get rid of any excess that might be in the soil. A good healthy plant that’s eating well shouldn’t have much excess anyway.

Do you feed jacks every watering? Do you mix your crobes with jacks? I’m new to all this lol.
I do jacks with fish shit every watering and recharge once a week with a feeding. Sometimes I wonder if I should skip a jacks and just do crobes by itself.

Yes, I give Jack’s with every feed and microbes about every third watering. I generally water every 4 days, though I could push it to 3.
I also start adding silica about a month into a grow after I’ve done some early training.
You know about Jack’s and mixing it, and I don’t mess with the mix order at all. But when adding silica it goes in the water first before anything else. The add the Jack’s parts in correct order and any other nutes or supplements you’re using with a large npk ratio then Ph the mix.
After you Ph the mix then add the microbes and Fishsh!t and that stuff.
The microbes and stuff like that won’t effect the Ph of the mix but the Ph up and down can be damaging to the microbes in concentrated form, so it’s best to add after they’ve been diluted into the mix during adjustments.
