Please keep this to one journal and not multiple. It’s too hard to keep up with comments if we have to go back and forth. @Myfriendis410 can you please combine these journlas into one?? Thanks
I didn’t say it was WPM. I said it looked fungal or like a slime mold of sorts (which isn’t really fungal). Me? I would experiment with a few things but if you have the answer, I’ll let it be.
Edit, if it’s fungal, burying it won’t help. If it’s insect eggs of sorts, burying it won’t help. It is 100% NOT roots. Good luck! Have fun experimenting!
I think they are roots?
Never seen them like that on a seedling, had them on clones.
I’ve heard others say the same. Should I cover them up and water?
I would. Build your soil up around the stem or add soil until the roots are covered. At least youve got them protected
I’d wait for someone who can indentify what that is before you bury it in your soil. It looks a lot more like some kind of fungus than roots to me. Maybe it’s harmful, maybe it’s not, but I’d want to know before I covered it with soil.
100% not roots, I’d wait for @Caligurl to get you some info on the other thread.
Just for grins I buried it and gave it water. I’ll give it a week and gently uncover it to see. I’m willing to sacrifice one plant to satisfy my curiosity.
Thank you all -
Thank you - I’ll let you know
Looks like the start of coral tooth fungus to me but I’m far from being an expert.
I can see where you’re coming from. I have posted in other groups. I’ll let you know.
Thanks for all the help - I buried as best I could for now. I’ll bury her deeper in a couple weeks when I put her outside.
So, I sent the pics in to a plant diagnostician with UW-Madison. this is what they sai.
"I have received your message and photo. I’m consulting with PJ Liesch, the UW-Madison insect diagnostician, regarding your photo. I’m suspicious what you’re seeing may be insect related rather than disease related. But we’ll see what PJ has to say. I’ll be back in touch, once I hear from PJ.
I heard back from PJ and he was not able to identify what the white material was on your help seedling. I think it would be best to submit a physical sample to your local (CA) diagnostic lab. You can find more on the diagnostic labs in CA at https://www.npdn.org/, specifically NPDN Lab Directory | National Plant Diagnostic Network. "
If you have several plants and you don’t want to risk spreading it to other plants, I would recommend sending in a sample… if you can dig it back out.
That’s just me. I’m very curious!
Im gonna have to say this looks like soething from “The last of us” id burn it get rid of it before it climbs in to your body while your sleeping lol
I covered it up with dirt as best I could a few days ago. I’m going to transplant her in a bigger pot this weekend but still keeping her in her own pot and dirt just in case. I’ll take pictures.
Thanks for all the help.
Update —- after keeping covered for a week I transplanted her today and there’s no sign of whatever that was.
Yarg!!! Grow forward mate!
Probably eggs and they hatched
