Seedling light choice

I have a 2 bulb fixture I’m using for my seedlings. They’re almost a week old and will be under this light for at least another week. The current bulb are cfl 2700k with 1650 lumens. I also have some cfl 6500k with only 800 lumens…which would be better? Thanks!

Id run them both tbh. Seedlings dont need much light, but the intensity on those seem to be lacking. Could you find examples of the bulbs on amazon and link them here?

Here’s the ones I just bought. I saw the 6500k but didn’t notice the low lumens. The ones I’m currently using I had laying around, higher lumens but only 2700k…image image

Yup run em both. My Round one was with 4-6 of these style bulbs. And my yield suffered because of it. @elheffe702 killed it with his though.

Run as much light as u can

They’re in a box I made up mostly for better temperature control image image

They’ll be going under 600w mh light once I chop the current girls in around 2 weeks

I would agree with @PurpNGold74 and run them both, you don’t want them to stretch right now!

Yup. Looks like Jefe style. Take a look at his journal for the endgame of ur plan :wink:

Lol, a bit too late on the stretch thing. I had the light too high for a day or 2 and they shot up. I’ll burry them a bit when I transplant.

If you have some foil or Mylar, you could line the lid with it to get a tiny bit more out of them. It’d help reflect the heat down some, too, but with the brace in there it shouldn’t get droopy or anything. I used to run seedlings under a single 23 watt CFL, to make good use of the heat. Then 2, then 3 leading up to the flip. I love that 3 of them is 69 watts lol

Lol, I thought about some mylar right after I finished it…maybe over the weekend I’ll fix it up!

When running low powered lights the cold whites (6500k) are usually better. Red light that is more plentiful in warm whites and weak light intensity both make the plant think it needs to react to shading, which will elongate your node spacing.

Hehehe. He said elongate :joy::rofl::joy:

So your saying that the lower lumen 6500k would be a better choice than the brighter 2700k bulb? I know this isn’t ideal but it’s what I have to work with for now

Huh huh…yeah yeah…elongate…huh huh :grin:

I tried laying out under my 2700k’s, you know, for some stretch? Didn’t work. :disappointed:

Make sure it’s at least in the dark for 12 hours before! :point_up: :nerd_face:

All things equal, the preference would be to veg with 6500k. You may need the other bulbs to get reasonable growth rates though.
