What can you tell by the girth of a trunk?

A friend once told me the thicker a plants trunk means they have more yield potential. Is there any truth to this? If so, I will be increasing my veg cycle.

Definitely true a thicker trunk can uptake more nutrients and water think of it like a straw if the straw has a ¼ inch diameter it would give you less liquid during a one second sip then a straw with a ½ in diameter would during a one second sip because it only has half as much volume capacity

With that being said, as an indoor grower, what’s a good girth, in diameter to aim for before flipping to flower. Under a 300w LED Spider Farmer, in a 3x3, so her growth speed isn’t The Flash :grinning:
so I figured this would be a better variable to determine when.

Sure, but it just means the plant is larger because it’s been allowed to grow. Your harvest potential will be mostly impacted by the size of your plant canopy and how well it’s managed. If you take a giant plant vs a very small plant the larger plant will obviously have more harvest potential. But if you start talking about plants the same size a plant with smaller stems could produce more if it’s managed better. This is just like claiming using a larger pot will produce more flower, and it doesn’t always work that way.
