What are these yellow balls on the top of my buds?

Hello everyone, something weird I’ve never experienced. One plant’s buds have these yellow ball like things on them. It’s only on the top colas, so I’m thinking light or heat stress? They’re only 10 inches away from the lights, can’t go higher. Pics taken just now:

The pics below are them forming a couple of days ago:

On a sidenote, these are Chronic Ryder autos from Doctor’s Choice. They say 63 - 65 days from seed to harvest. I’m on day 53, these won’t be finished in 12 more days right?

Thanks for any input as always everyone

@MagicCultivator420 I have no idea but would love to see what people have to say

Bleaching is my guess. 10" away from tops. What DLI or PPFD are you running? The leaves look to be tacoing slightly which is also heat stress related.

No they will not be done in 12 days. Done is determined by looking at the trichs with a scope. Seed co’s always understate the length of time. That is one thing I have seen every time someone asks when? The breeders says…

1st thing awesome job getting this far. Like mentioned above. Minor light bleach . Definitely get a microscope 2 check trichomes

Thank you for the replies everyone, some bleaching I can live with, as long as it’s not seeded or something worse.

@Jayjay504 yeah I was interested too, never saw any of my buds like this before.

@Bonjoyle DLI and PPFD vary depending on the cola, ranges drastically from 45 DLI (700 PPFD) on the ones on the edges all the way up to the 90s (1700 PPFD) for the more central ones. Temps are 29C (85F) with lights on.

That’s a shame about the false claims of harvest time. Especially now that summer is coming and it’s gonna get hotter

@SilvaBack203 Thank you, I do have and use a wireless microscope. It’s still too early to start checking trichomes now though right? Can’t even see any pistils turning amber yet.

Back your lights down a notch or raise them. I tried jacking my lights up in intensity and started getting some bleaching. Im far from harvest (maybe a month to 6 weeks) and raising the lights a few inches at a time until the bleaching stopped worked for me.

To early. But you are doing awesome job. Shes gonna b a fat 1

@ChittyChittyBangin I can’t raise the lights anymore, so I guess I’m going to have to dial down intensity. Hope this won’t affect the middle and lower buds too much, especially since the tops are already starting to be ruined so to speak

@SilvaBack203 thank you for the kind words, the support really is appreciated, cause I do feel like I don’t fully have the hang of this yet. She is starting to plump up those buds now though yeah

Second to last pic…

I’m 99% sure those clusters are male flowers forming. You also have light bleaching.

I second this… looks lime it’s herming! I may be wrong but it doesn’t look like bleaching

First number. Nice.
Second number. Ouch

I’m gonna go with herming if you are developing yellow “balls”. Bleaching looks like normal flowers, except white

May just be light bleaching, sunburnt calyx. Looks balls too, but the NL5 had sunburt buds that looked like balls. The grower that grew them left because he didn’t like constructive criticism. Here was his female burnt bud.

They got yellow too.

Guess what I am saying is watch it a couple more days. Before you decide it’s yellow balls.

are yellow balls better than blue balls

Can you lower the pots or raise the sides and roof of the tent (assuming it’s in a tent)?
Some tents have a separate bottom to sides and you could put some blocks under the sides to raise it up 3 or 4 inches.

Sounds like something @kaptain3d would say. Lol

Thanks again for the continuous replies everyone. I appreciate everyone’s time.

@Borderryan22 @503KING that was my main concern, if it’s some sort of herming or seeds  I’ll wait it out and see what happens. I checked multiple nodes and cannot see any pollen sacs if that makes a difference. Bleaching I can live with cause I’ll just cut off the burnt bits come harvest time, but seeded weed is a nuisance. These yellow balls are only on the top of the plant (like just the top inch) though which gives me some hope.

I addressed the light bleaching by dimming down intensity.

@noddykitty1 fingers crossed that it is just bleaching. Thank you for the reference pic and sharing someone else’s similar experience. Hoping it is just that!

@randylilgnome haha blue balls are easierto solve than yellow balls  unfortunately no, there is no way to lower the plants any further or raise the lights any higher. I dimmed down intensity instead.

@kaptain3d sure you won’t kap!

On a separate note but still related to this grow, why do my plants keep getting so tall, even if they’re autos? These autos are meant to only grow 80cm according to the breeder, but they’re over 4 feet. This even happened to me on my last grow which were FastBuds autos also, they actually grew taller than me. Is it cause I use Advanced Nutrients and all their additives so all the nutes are really boosting their growth? At first I thought I was flipping to flower too late, but now that it’s happening with autos also maybe something else is going on.

Thanks again everyone. I’ll keep you updated on those ‘yellow balls’.

You can say that again…

He even once told me that giving false info was better than giving none… He lived for the “likes”… :man_facepalming:

Hello everyone, giving an update on those yellow balls one of the plants was showing. I dimmed down light intensity to 70% last week to bring the DLI levels closer to what they need to be. Here are some pics taken just now.

This is the tent from the side:

Top of the plant with the yellow balls:

Some pics of the buds affected:

Do you think it’s just bleaching? I don’t think I see any male parts or seeds (hopefully).

Looking nice and stacking though, what do you think?

Then this is my other plant, I’m quite happy with this one:

No trouble with the 2nd plant, just wanted to share. Happy weekend everyone!
