Water amount and frequency help

Hey guys, i know this topic has been talked but I honestly have hard time getting answer of how to actually water.
So im starting my 2nd run In hopefully a week from today, gonna use 4x2 tent, hlg 260 xl light with 2/3 pots of 3 gallon (still debating because of tent size) of WW autos. My last run ended up okay but had some watering issues, tried to understand this topic a lot, so let me know it what im planning to do is wrong please
Im planning on make the entire pot wet before i add the seeds in, then wait until its fully dry and use the spray water method until roots are settled. Then am i wanna basically use same amounts just different frequencies? Meaning always getting the entire soil mildly wet and always wait for fully dry, give some time for oxygen and water again? Using ILGM nutes once a week? Thanks in advance!!

@Zagbah1995 If you’re starting them in the 3 gals I wouldn’t soak the whole pot right away.
Likely cause issues before the roots get established.

I start mine in 1 liter pots and even those fully wet take 10-12 days to get to the point of needing more. In pro mix btw.
I don’t water anymore after the initial one till the first feed. No spraying either.
A dome helps for the first week or so till they get a couple roots under them.
Don’t be shy about transplanting autos either. I’ll go from a 1 liter up to the final pot when the roots are established enough.
Usually 4-5 weeks works for me.
If in a solo cup then maybe a week sooner.
Just be aware of how many roots there are so the soil doesn’t break up when the cup is removed. Clear cup inside a red one works good. Holes in the clear one. Just lift and look.

Good luck with ur grow.

So true on transplant.
They say dont but what they should say is dont shock autos. Some people destroy everything they touch, they shouldnt transplant. Theyre a breeze especially if you practiced on garden veggies.

Yes. The older the plant gets the more often you have to water. Every time you water soak the whole pot till runoff

I don’t know specifically about ilgm nutes but the standard is twice per week

I fill my starter pot (solo cup in my case) with soil/medium and drench that s.o.b. depending on humidity/ time of year ill put a clear dome over it.
Then i throw my seeds into water 24 hrs then into a wet paper towel. The whole time my wet solo cup is still just sitting there getting less wet.
Once they get a tail i will put them into the solo cup and cover with a dome. Still not adding water. Then i forget about them for a few days. Then i will check to make sure everything looks ok and forget about them again for a few more days.
Basically i do nothing with them for around a week.

At that point they are pretty much ready for dome to come off and ill water the outside area of the cup and that will last them for another stretch of days where i do nothing with them. Ill water the outside of cup as needed (no definitive time frame) until ready for transplant.

Think less is more.

As for not transplanting autos. I don’t buy into that. In just about all container horticulture up potting is common practice. What makes you think ruderalis is so special to be in that very slim category that doesn’t like it. And imo its easier to damage roots having them in too big a container by over watering than to damage in a transplant.

All of this is just my opinion and what works for me.

If twice a week, how do you combine it with watering at the beginning that will also probably will be once twice a week?

You shouldn’t have to feed at the beginning but when you do twice per week
