I wanna get a grow tent. Any thoughts on this one by anyone? It’s on Amazon. My only worry at all really is keeping it cool. I don’t have an air conditioner to put in the room so idk if any grow tent can help with that.
Looks like a good one to start with
I prefer a taller tent, other than the height it looks like it will work
I might look for a grow tent kit. Time, convenience, complete kit supports correcting multiple problems often experienced. ILGM postings suggest you will grow 2-3 plants. I do recommend, HIGHER 80" (because hanging lights will take space and 5 gal planters will double the un-usable heights, ALWAYS more lights, cooling system, air circulation…This will be WORK, Happy trails
If growing in a tent you will need to exchange air in the tent. This usually done by running an inline or duct fan to exhaust the tent and having a separate way for fresh air to enter the tent. The environment inside of the tent will mostly be determined by condition of air coming into the tent and your ability to exchange the air.
When you say your worry is keeping it cool, what kind of temps do you expect to see? On a reasonable setup i would expect your canopy temps to be around 10f higher than the temp of your intake air. If intake air is around 70f you should be in pretty good shape. If intake air will hit 80f is not very good at all.
It gets pretty hot. Probably around 75f a lot of the time
Having a tent specifically isn’t going to solve that. Tent can help to provide smaller control area, but is mostly used to provide a light tight space to photoperiod plants.
The vivosun tent is a decent starter tent, but you get what you pay for. Mine has light leaks (zipper and machine over stitching) and the frame/support poles are weak. My lung room stays dark during lights out so the leaks aren’t the end of the world for me. You could beef up the top where you’ll be hanging accessories I guess. The vivosun serves it’s purpose, but I definitely would’ve and will purchase a tent in the future with a more solid structure
I like my Apollo 48x48x80.Havent checked for light leaks, yet.
Nap time?
At 60", it may be too short to flower some taller plants, recommend at least 6 ft tall.
If this is the highest it gets then you’ll be fine.
As db said, expect tent temps about 10° more then outside of tent “lung room”.
If lung is 75f and you have good airflow through the tent and a nice gentle breeze blowing over them inside the tent, you will be in the golden zone for Temps.
When my tent is in veg with lots of passive air flow, i keep my lung about 75ish.
When the tent is all sealed up for flower, i do drop the lung Temps to 71f and honestly I don’t really have to.
I just do for a better VPD as I drop RH in flower…
Edit:
Forgot to say that 60" tall would be my minimum height if i could go 70" or more i would. You will thank yourself down the road…
I had that tent! Its too short to be practical and looked like a planetarium shooting light out of too many holes to count. I upgraded to a gorilla and i know they are expencive but im on my 2nd grow with it (2x4x6.3) and im way past worrying about what i paid. The extra height is a wounderful thing. And built like a tank. Ive only have problems with the cheep crap i bought.
The 60" tent works great for seedling and cloning (a SECOND tent, is a must have).
60" tent good for concealing in closet.
I just ordered a Gorilla 2x4x7’11" standard tent with the 1’ extension. I’ve been running a Gorilla 3x3x7’11" for almost 5 years now. While they are not perfect. There still head and shoulders better than the cheap amazon tents. We call all those cheap china amazon tents trash around here because you always see them on the curb come trash day or a sign on them proclaiming FREE!
I have 3 gorilla grow tents and one ACInfinity tent and if I were to buy another tent it would be another ACInfinity tent. The opening is taller on the ACInfinty tent; the gorilla grow is designed that top 10 inches or so is above the tent opening. The ACInfinity tent has one zipper used to access the tent, the gorilla grow has five zippers and two flaps that need positioning each time, what a pain in the butt. The ACInfinity is about 40% of the cost of a gorilla grow and as far as I can tell, is just as light tight.
Wow. Cool ac hook up. I’d love to do but too much noise
I looked at AC Infinity before I bought my Gorilla I’m waiting on to get here. And they were not tall enough. I like the 1’ extension the standard Gorillas come with. The Gorilla Lite series of tents does not come with the extension so it’s a adder. And there is no option at all for a extension or taller tent with AC Infinity.
I tend to agree on tent height. Taller the better. Also consider actual volume of air in tent. More air takes longer to heat. Recycling the whole thing every minute or 2 lights on drop you a few degrees. Headroom also will let you raise lights and turn up. Heat rises. I pull out from top and in from bottom opposite side when my 2x4 is up. Just me.
I just set up my ViVosun 48x48x80 (top extension boxes available). Plenty of zippers, sturdy cloth.
Haven’t checked for light leaks,yet.
